RELEASE DATE: June 28, 2022
BLURB:
A red-hot, enemies-to-lovers, fake boyfriend, second chance romance, and the conclusion to the Hopelessly Bromantic Duet!
Let me just say this — fake dating the cocky movie star was not my idea. Especially since he’s my former roomie and, gulp, my secret ex.
But my agent tells me I have no choice since I’m ridiculously overdue with turning in the next big blockbuster love story to my publisher.
Not to mention, ahem, writing it.
Falling for the smooth-talking English hottie once upon a time — fine, twice — were huge mistakes that I shouldn’t repeat, but pretending to like the guy who broke my heart is my only chance at saving my job.
That is, as long as no one finds out that every date we go on, every smile we flash each other for the cameras, and every hot, desperate kiss on the streets of Manhattan is absolutely fake.
Except…it’s not. At least for me.
And he can never know…
Contents Include: Snarky banter, sexy dates, hate s-e-x, seduction by a wordsmith, and two strong, stubborn, clever men determined to resist each other at all costs.
REVIEW:
Here Comes My Man is the perfect continuation of Jude and TJ’s romance. It’s all about slowly rediscovering their true love for each other and trying to rebuild a relationship that seems doomed. Will their forced time together as fake boyfriends represent a new beginning or another heartbreaking ending? Can they ever achieve the passion they once had?
The book begins ten months after the end of Hopelessly Bromantic and their confrontation in Los Angeles. Jude erroneously thought TJ had betrayed him and accused TJ of using him to further his career by getting his book turned into a movie. The men haven’t seen each other since. Jude’s acting career has skyrocketed. He’s now America’s heartthrob and an Oscar nominee. But rumors and photos of him suggesting he’s a Hollywood bad boy are threatening to hurt his reputation. Public opinion of him is plummeting.
Meanwhile, TJ has been experiencing a writing slump and he’s missing his deadlines to deliver a new novel. He’s uninspired and spiraling downward. His emotions are too muddled by thoughts of what could have been with Jude.
Jude and TJ’s agents conspire to solve both their problems: they need to be fake boyfriends. TJ needs someone to inspire him and rejuvenate his romantic writing. Jude needs to be seen dating a respectable man to draw the public’s attention away from his bad press. They’re ordered to keep up the charade until TJ’s creative juices are flowing again and Jude’s once again perceived as a Golden boy.
Unsurprisingly, being together so much brings poignant emotions to the forefront. Neither wants to genuinely date and risk getting his heart broken again. But hate soon turns into playful and flirty banter. Their public pecks on the cheek lead to private, passionate kisses. The lust fueled passion is accompanied by a soundtrack of whimpers, groans, and growling.
“But I know this— once we strip away the jealousy, we show each other the truth with our bodies. Like how much I’ve missed him. How much I regret. How much I want.”
They both struggle to open up all the way, though. They’re being honest but still withholding somewhat to protect their hearts. Is it finally their time after so many years of separation?
I’ve used the word “passion” to describe Lauren Blakely’s books before. She’s a master of evoking strong emotion for her readers. This is another one of her swoon-worthy novels with sexy, sympathetic characters. These guys belong together if only they can get out of their own way. This book is less angsty and is lighter in tone and more humorous than Hopelessly Bromantic. They’re finally getting their act together without any of the dreaded misunderstandings this time around. The beginning felt a bit slow to me but the pace picks up satisfyingly. The best part of this book? The TWO epilogues in true Blakely style tie up all the loose ends and will leave you more than happy. Highly recommended.
