BLURB:
After a bitter divorce leaves him heartbroken, Brendan finds solace in running his beloved flower shop. Wary of being burnt again, he vows never to jump into another relationship. Until one day when he visits a hair salon and meets a man with skilled hands and a cheeky smile. Intrigued by this handsome hairdresser, Brendan returns to the salon on the first Wednesday of every month, hoping that their slowly-blooming friendship may one day turn into something more.
Hugh’s always dreamed of having his own hair salon. But when he finally achieves his goal, he realises there’s something still missing in his life—a man to share it with. After a disastrous date with a client, Hugh vows never to go down that road again. But his resolve begins to crumble when he meets Brendan: six-foot-three of solid muscle, brandishing a large bouquet of flowers. With his kind eyes, chequered shirt, and dad-next-door appeal, Hugh can’t help but doubt Brendan will be interested in his advances.
Slowly, but surely, Brendan and Hugh emerge from their shells. Sparks fly as their carnal desires are let loose, plunging them headlong into wild pleasures, heady passion, and dizzy highs, all wrapped in a warm cocoon of tenderness and laughter.
A story of second chances, idiots in love, steamy jacuzzi scenes, and explicit descriptions.
This is a 20k novella introducing the series of stand-alone MM books from the contemporary Pursuit of Love series.
The novella was in a giveaway in June 2022 and there is no additional content.
REVIEW:
This little novella is a sweet story of two men who become acquainted when Brendan, a florist, is sent to get a haircut by one of his customers. She feels this will get him out of the rut he’s been in since his divorce and give his self-esteem a boost as well. The stylist, Hugh, is a lovely obviously gay man who Brendan is immediately attracted too.
Brendan has been seeing Hugh every month for a year and bringing him flowers from the shop each time. He’s been trying to convey his feelings with the flowers and the attached cards of poetry, but he’s not been getting any response other than friendship – text and banter and mild flirting when he’s getting his hair cut. But this time, he’s going for broke with both the flowers and the card. As they are discussing the meaning of flowers during his haircut, they also get closer and Brendan kisses Hugh and then runs out. Hugh finally realizes that the flowers are for him and that he’s totally missed the signals thinking that Brendan was straight.
Hugh chased down Brendan, but misses him and Brendan is off to a conference. It’s up to Hugh to make Brendan understand that he finally realizes what Brendan has been trying to communicate all along. And he does a really good job of that – with flowers to boot!
Brendan is a big sweet teddy bear. Hugh thinks he’s straight – until Millie, his assistant, realizes that Hugh has been misreading the signals the whole time! Hugh thinks the flowers are for Millie – not him. Once he figures out the message of the flowers and the poetry are for him, he’s off to try to catch Brendan. Brendan’s conference is the perfect place for Hugh to make his declaration though – and the honeymoon sweet is an added bonus. These guys are very very hot together! There is a lot of sex in the last few chapters where they really really get to know each other. If you’re in the mood for a sweet steamy romance with lots of pent up sexual tension that finally goes off with a bang, then this might be your story. Recommended and can’t wait for the next story.
