My whole life I unapologetically believed in fairy tales and fated mates. I waited – impatiently – for the day my mate would appear and sweep me off my feet. Turns out Fate has a wicked sense of humor. The second my hand brushed his, I knew Finn was my mate… and my stomach turned. I’m unicorns and sunshine. He’s stern scowls and a monotone fashion sense.
Sure, he’s insanely hot. That doesn’t change the fact that we are polar opposites and can’t stand one another. We spent years pointedly ignoring each other, fighting against the magnetic desire that sizzled between us.
Until that one explosive night…
Now, I’m carrying his child and trying to figure out how to co-parent with the man I alternately despise and long for.
Finn Sinclair
I never believed in Fated Mates until the day I met my brother’s newest assistant. The world shifted as I peered into the eyes of a man who reminded me of a thousand, brightly lit firecrackers.
The bratty, gorgeous sub pushed every one of my buttons – as a man, an alpha, and a Dom. We agreed to ignore the pull between us, and that plan worked for years. Until the night we gave in and my world exploded.
He annoyed me to no end, while somehow making my soul feel complete. How can I focus on successfully co-parenting, while lusting after him every second I spend in his presence?
This is book two of the Sweet Alps Mates series, but all can be read as standalone. Characters from previous books will pop in, but it is not necessary to have read book one. This is an enemy to lovers story that includes age gap, hurt/comfort, fated mates, mpreg, knotting, some D/s, and a HEA.
REVIEW:
I have soooo been looking forward to this book!
Wade is Lachlan’s super efficient and over-the-top personal assistant that keeps his boss in order. He is also Quinn, Lachlan’s husband, best friend and practically his brother. The two have been inseparable since they were six. He is literally part of Quinn’s family. He is also very anti anything to do with Lachlan’s quad brother Finn. He has been since the moment that the two met in Lachlan’s office. They are like oil and water…never to mix! Except that pesky detail that has haunted them every since that faithful meet. Because fate sure has a wicked sense of humor when she set those two together as fated mates!!!
I couldn’t wait to hear the saucy little PA of Lachlan’s story. I knew he was lively, bright and full of energy but I didn’t know why he and Finn couldn’t stand to be in the same room and not throw barbs at each other. I knew that Finn was Lachlan’s closest brother of the four identical quadruplets. And I knew that Finn and Quinn bonded over Quinn’s pregnancy as his doctor and were close too. And that Lachlan adored Wade and couldn’t survive without him. And that Quinn and Wade were as close to being brothers as the two could get without the same parents. And Finn and Wade were the twin’s godparents. So I couldn’t figure out why they couldn’t stand each other. But, as great stories happen, a misunderstanding can ruin any chance if it’s not fixed. But you have to communicate for the truth to come out…or Fate will make it happen because She always gets her way!
I felt for Wade. Even though Quinn’s family was his found family and treated him as their own, he still carried the weight of rejection from the two people who should have loved him the most. That betrayal left deep scars on him and his ability to trust was severely cramped. Add into that the fact that he always felt judged and, after Finn’s initial reaction, it’s no wonder he kept the man way away.
And I fell for the amazing doctor. Although he seemed stoic I knew from his interaction with Lachlan and Quinn that he was a great guy hiding behind his seriousness. But he is protective at the heart of it and boy did that come through at Jamie’s club.
But what I loved the most was how both men learned to trust and listen to the other. Yes they were perfect for each other after they finally opened their eyes and heart’s to the other. I really didn’t want their story to end.
I was thrilled that we got to spend some time with Lachlan, Quinn and the twins. I knew that they would be pivotal here because of all their deep connections. And it was a real treat that Gigi, Quinn’s feisty grandma, made an appearance. You never know what’s going to pop out of her mouth but you can be sure it’s going to be a doozy!
I looking forward to the next Sinclair quadruplet’s story. Brendan’s story is next and if I remember how he reacted to Santa visiting Jamie’s Club then this should be a real treat. But it’s the mysterious Jamie that I can’t wait to hear his story. This was a great addition to the Sweet Alps Mates storyline and I can’t wait for the next book.
