REVIEW:
NOTE: This is the fourth book in this series and it is much better read in order. Jumping into the story of this dragon family in the middle might be a little confusing.
Seth, one of the single dragons, is out looking for crystals to add to his collection. They call to him from the lake on the property. While there, he runs into a strange man. He becomes afraid and starts to shift and the man shoots him! Seth is rescued by his cousin and the man is taken to their home. He recovers but is afraid of the stranger.
Turns out Beau is a PI who has been sent to look for Brandon and Justin. Apparently it’s been noted that Brandon is “missing” and then his twin hasn’t been seen either. Beau has always liked the mountains so he’s happy to poke around looking for them. He just wasn’t prepared for what he found. He’s not sure why he’s being held and he doesn’t believe that Justin and Brandon are there of their own free will despite their repeated protestations that they are happy and have found their place 🙂 At some point it becomes clear that these are not ordinary men 😉 He does know he is drawn to Seth and when they are kept apart, that yearning just gets worse.
When Seth finally comes to him, Beau just feels that they belong together. He doesn’t know yet about the mate pull and Seth has a secret he’s been hiding from the rest of his family who assume that he is like the rest of them. Seth is convinced that Beau is magic because how else could he have gotten through the wards? And when Arian says he’s meant to stay, well that seals the deal 😀 Seth and Beau are together and that’s that.
As the winter goes on, there is a new baby expected. Beau has to go close up his apartment and report back on Brandon and Justin or someone else will just try to follow them again. He goes with Rory Calhoun but is stuck by a snowstorm and is gone far longer than intended. This doesn’t go down well with Seth. Then there is the little matter of Beau’s sometimes PI partner John showing up looking far the worse for wear. Seth is jealous (although there is no need) and it’s clear that he needs help. John is taken to Loy and Niall’s place where hopefully he can figure out what is wrong 😉
The holidays are a fun time for the whole clan and Beau is fitting in well. He’s done a great job of gift buying and he’s made close friends with Samuel. In the meanwhile, a new baby is born, a new familiar – a bobcat named Bertie – has arrived. It’s clear this bobcat is meant for the new baby. All is well on the mountain with dragons and babies. Only Zeke is unmated – but there is a possibility that there is someone for him – just not what anyone expects. We’ll have to wait for the next book 🙂
This is another fun, low angst book with plenty of happy times. The kids are all growing up in this one and it’s clear that they have very distinct personalities – just like their parents. Seth finally get someone of his own after feeling so alone for so long. It’s good to see him happy 🙂 Beau is a good guy and he take to the dragon new pretty easily – certainly better than Declan 😉 The family group is really coming together and everyone is getting their happy endings 🙂 I am excited for the next book to see what happens with Zeke who is the last single dragon! Gareth is a mystery and I have questions! If you’re a fan of dragon shifters, omegaverse, mpgreg, fantasy, you’ll enjoy this continuation of this series. Enjoy!
