BLURB:
Adam and Cooper have been in love with each other for over a decade.
At the beginning of their relationship, Cooper thought he might have asked Adam for too much. Trust issues from his past pushed him to make steadfast demands that Adam wasn’t able to meet. Even though neither of them wanted to admit it, things between them were going to end before they even got started.
Ten years ago, Adam’s life was in a state of upheaval. He thought he knew who he was and what he wanted, but the development of his friendship with Cooper into something more proved that couldn’t be any further from the truth. Forced to question things he’d long believed about himself, Adam faltered when he needed to stay strong.
A decade later, Cooper and Adam are back where they began. Wanting but nervous. Interested and unsure. Even though they’re determined not to mess things up again, growing older hasn’t made them feel any wiser. On uneven ground, but fighting for a second chance, Adam has to get over his preconceptions about what it means to have control if he wants a chance at happiness, and Cooper has to admit it’s possible to sometimes bend without completely breaking.
To Love You is a 65,000 word romance between consenting adults with D/s themes.
REVIEW:
I wasn’t sold on Adam in the first book so he had an uphill battle to win me over.
Adam is Wyatt’s dad and Grant’s best friend/next door neighbor from the first book. Cooper was Wyatt’s boss back then. And Adam and Cooper had a thing going on back then. Fast forward 10 years. Wyatt has graduated from college, married shortly after and has been living with his husband in New York making six figures in finance. But now he is getting divorced and needs his Dad. Adam had a really good thing going with Cooper until he couldn’t get past the fact that he’s a Dom and Cooper is a Switch…oh and he’s confused how hard Cooper made him when he became the Dom to Adam. After a lover’s spat that got way out of control the two men learned how to avoid each other for ten years!!! But, when their good friend Devon insists that both men attend his 40th birthday party they can’t refuse. But, when they both wind up in the spare bedroom to take a break, the simmering tension can do anything but ignite them both. But things haven’t changed. They still have the same explosive chemistry as they did ten years ago but Cooper is a Switch through and through and Adam has always considered himself a Dom! But is he really if Cooper’s commands get him off harder than anyone ever has before or since???
Adam wasn’t my favorite to start out with. I wasn’t sure if I trusted him to follow through with what he stated he wanted. I know his head was really messed up with what he believed was the role he was in his kink. I now get that really Adam was insecure in a lot of things. He thinks in cut and dry when things can become more fluid and flow differently if he can just get out of his head and just let things happen.
I was super worried when Wyatt showed up that this was going to ruin it for Cooper and Adam but it actually helped to push them in the direction they needed to go. Adam needed to learn to communicate with Cooper and not just run to Grant when he had problems.
I am worried how everything is going to go down when Adam learns about Grant and Wyatt and that Cooper has known, or at least suspected, since the beginning.
I really love Adam and Cooper together. Most of that is because of Cooper. I didn’t get the Switch part at first. I had never heard of this type of relationship, especially as extreme as these guys can take it, with them both being Switches. But it’s not my job to judge anyone’s kink and if it works for them so be it.
I think I preferred the actual relationship development much more than the kink this time. These two had so much baggage to work through and trust to develop so their love for each other could blossom and thrive but it worked for me. They are a bit unconventional but that worked too.
I must say that the two cover models really worked for me. They really fit! And Cooper is flat out adorable.
I am super stoked for the final book next month so we will finally get Wyatt and Grant’s hard earned and long awaited HEA but I’m cautious that it’s going to be a bumpy road for all four men before that happens.
