How to tame a vampire isn’t in any of my spell books.
My life changed forever the night my coven was attacked. I was scared and alone until my bestie Leo showed up. I trust him with my life. Good thing since he dragged me to the home of a notorious vampire. Even worse, another equally terrifying vampire is in charge of keeping an eye on me.
I did my best to comply and keep my distance from the stoic, domineering man who I shared a room with. I may have tried to flirt with him a couple times, a totally dumb move considering vampires aren’t exactly fans of witches. It didn’t work anyway. Once I was able to get away from him and back to the safety of my coven, I hightailed it out of there. I thought I would quickly forget him. I was wrong.
When we reunite, Beto let’s a surprising secret slip, leading me to make a decision that we both might regret. Who am I to deny a man his need to submit? Will Beto decide to trust me with his desires? Can I learn to keep a vampire in check? Don’t know, but I’m up for the challenge. If the war doesn’t tear us apart first.
The Witch’s Power Play is an MM paranormal romance featuring a subby vampire who just wants to be good for someone, a sassy witch embracing his toppy side, a supernatural war causing havoc, a bunch of really annoying demons who show up at the worst time, and so much pining (at first). It is book two in the Covens of Eaton Falls series. Each book features a different couple with an ongoing conflict and therefore should be read in order.
REVIEW:
Note: This is the second book in this series and contains major spoilers for Never Trust a Guy with Fangs. It is recommended to read the series in order 🙂
The second book in this series picks up right after the end of the first one. The vamps, witches and other paranormals have a lot to do here now that the war is happening. Beto protects Presley, but Pres wants more 😉 Now that they know the truth about vamps and witches, it’s clear that Presley wants Beto and he’s not taking no for an answer 😀 The first third of the book has them figuring out their dynamic and what they want (and it’s highly entertaining).
Pres and Leo are besties and their dynamic paired with the vampires makes for an interesting combination. But there is a war afoot and there are many things to figure out about what the demons are really after and why. The action takes off again and Presley is in danger, but now that the witches and vampires are a team, Presley is to be protected. There is a bit of a rollercoaster ride and a bit of a cliffhanger, but that’s to be expected I think in this series 😉
So I did enjoy this story, but I think I was hoping for more Beto and Presley, but I think it’s clear that Leo and Augustus will play a pretty major part in this series. I am a fan of paranormal series and also Ms. Monroe’s writing, so I knew I would probably like what she chose to write about in this genre. As with the first book, we get to know a lot more about these vampires and witches – particularly Beto and Presley who we met in the first book but who are the main new romantic partners in this book. While they are so different from one another, they just work 🙂 The trust that they develop with each other was one of the best parts of their story. The war with the demons is explored/explained more in this one, but there are still surprises to be uncovered! Presley is a wonderful character – I found myself laughing a lot at him 😉 and I really like getting to know him in this story – along with his cat 🙂 Beto’s resistance was adorable, but futile! The banter is definitely a Mia Monroe trademark that I loved in this one. I’m anxious to see what comes next in this interestingly twisted paranormal series. I feel like Riley’s book will be a fun one 🙂 Recommended!
