BLURB:
Watching his fake fiance stumble out of a Vegas chapel with a husband who wasn’t him was the best thing that could have ever happened to Harrison Andrews. There’s only one man Harrison wants to be with, and it’s the one man he can’t have. Why can’t Harrison put his heart on the line and go after the one he always wanted? His old friend has thrown caution to the wind and married a stranger. Why can’t he have what he needs?
Jack Marshall is used to Harrison’s cold feet. Raised as step-brothers, their teenage years were little more than Jack pushing and Harrison pulling away. When they tumble into a Vegas hotel bed together, Jack is ready for a repeat of their past.
Instead, Harrison and Jack rediscover the passion that first brought them together. Harrison learns things about Jack he never knew, and Harrison’s acceptance gives Jack hope that a happy ending could exist for them. Still, he worries Harrison may let their families push them apart forever.
REVIEW:
I had wondered about Harrison, the arranged marriage fiancé, that Rowan jilted when he eloped with Sid after one night in Vegas. This is his story and it might even be better than Rowan’s and that’s saying a lot!!!
Harrison and his step brother Jack just happen to be standing outside the chapel where Harrison’s arranged fiancé Rowan and his brand new husband obviously just got married in Vegas. Harrison figures let Rowan fall on the sword over this with their families and runs off with Jack for one night of lust in sin city with his ultra sexy and forbidden step brother. The one man he desires most but can’t have. Turns out that Jack has felt the same way since they both laid eyes on each other. His only problem was that Daddy Dearest spotted the lust/infatuation immediately in his teenage son years ago when they first met and put a kibosh to any interaction by Jack. Well both Jack and Harrison are now grown, responsible, wealthy men that no longer need to answer to their parents. Especially after the arranged fiasco of the engagement of Rowan and Harrison blew up. Rowan and Sid aren’t changing their minds so why shouldn’t Harry and Jacky follow suit???
These two were so head-over-heels madly and passionately in love. The very long simmering of infatuation that turn to lust from their denied chances burned white hot with absolutely no chance of turning to simmering any time soon. They were simply it for the other and no one else had ever even come close for either one and they were done with settling.
I know that this was suppose to be a kind of forbidden love because they were step brothers however, since they didn’t even meet until they were in their teens, I never felt it forbidden but more “How would it look” to their parents society friends. Especially since they were some of the wealthier people in Portland’s society.
I did love how Harry not only accepted but embraced Jacky’s kinkier and sexier needs and his dislikes didn’t phase him. I feel like he would do and accept anything that his Jacky wanted to try if it made him happy.
I don’t know if we are going to get Max’s story or not. At first I thought he might wind up with Sid’s BFF Derek but now wonder if it’s Jordan, his photographer friend from the wedding. I also really want to know what’s up with this prenup that both Harrison and Rowan’s parents drew up. How really bad off are Rowan’s parents and is Jack’s dad even more awful than we originally thought. And is Harrison’s mom in on it too because we know both of Rowan’s parents were. Inquiring minds want…no need to know! 🤞
