BLURB:
On your knees, billionaire.
Is there anything more satisfying than putting a powerful man in his place? I just told off my billionaire CEO in front of the entire company, and it was totally worth it. Do I care that a viral video of our exchange sent his stocks into freefall? Nope. Am I going to help Rand Wolfe rehab his company’s reputation? Not a chance in hell.
There’s just one problem: I’m the bastard son of a mafia don, a fact Wolfe finds out the hard way when he tracks me down at the docks. Saving his life puts a mafia-style extradition order on my head, and the only place to hide is his high-rise penthouse. Could be worse, I suppose.
Now that I’m forced to spend time with him, I discover a seductively kind man who, like me, wants to be a better person than his father. As things heat up between us, I find that he rather enjoys being put in his place, and “eat the rich” takes on a whole new meaning.
But with danger around every corner, can I protect the man I’m falling for?
Extradition is a Manhattan romance that features an ex-mobster with a heart of gold, a billionaire who likes to take direction, plus a snarky cast of criminals, reprobates, and other corporate types. The books in this series are stand-alones, and the HEA is always guaranteed.
REVIEW:
Rand Wolfe and Joe Portelli are on a collision course. The fact that the explosion was recorded and leaked to social media? Just that much better. But what Joe Portelli doesn’t know is that Rand Wolfe really is a clueless as Joe says he is and shows up on the docks to try to convince Joe to come back to help him with the PR nightmare. He immediately runs afoul of Joe’s half brother, the legitimate son of the head of the Portelli family. Thank god Joe is a lot smarter than Sal and gets Rand out of the situation sans a body bag.
Now there is a price on Joe’s had. Rand’s security has to keep both of them safe. Close quarters end up making strange bedfellows though. Joe’s level of honesty bring something out in Rand. With the help of his assistant Sherry and his valet, Grayson and even grudgingly Edgerton, his security chief, Joe and Rand begin to really work as a team. Joe and Sherry are two of the only people who tell Rand the truth. The board of directors doesn’t like the plan, but they like hemorrhaging money even less. And when Joe’s suggested reforms perform a miracle rebound, well Rand’s horrible father isn’t too happy about it either.
Rand and Joe circle each other a bit but Joe knows that the chemistry between them will be white hot. And he’s not wrong. He sees the soft bits of Rand and his vulnerabilities that he’s been hiding from everyone but particularly his father his whole life. He’s happy to give up control to Joe at least in this area of his life and they are really good together. Of course they still have a lot to overcome, but it’s clear that as a team they have the potential to achieve so much more. 😀
This is the first audio book I’ve listened to by this narrator, but it sure won’t be the last. He is FIRE!!! Wow wow wow. This performance was all kinds of fabulous. The steamy bits? Prepare to be fanning yourself. Mr. Lockheart’s performance of these two main characters who are so different, yet so perfect for each other was fantastic. Each character – whether Rand’s condescending father, his head of security Edgerton, his valet Grayson or Joe’s mob family – are clear and distinct and just spot on. Seriously this performance is really just so good. I cannot wait for the next book to be honest. The characters were so well written and the performance so seamless. This book is a roller coaster ride that is a whole lot of fun. I am a huge fan of this author and this is the start to another great series. The characters were amazing and I loved the dynamic between not only the MCs but the important secondary characters – particularly Sherry and Grayson. Highly recommended.
