BLURB:
One dragon. One wolf. And they’re both alphas. Surely Fate must’ve messed up.
After spending the last two hundred years locked up in the family castle with his three younger brothers, Erwan is climbing the walls. Literally. He’s a dragon who isn’t allowed to fly, forbidden to use his magic, all to stay hidden from the rest of the world. How will he ever find his mate like this?
But when he finds an injured omega in the woods around the castle and brings him home, the spell that kept them hidden is broken. Erwan’s father is furious—not that that’s anything new. The man has basically been angry all Erwan’s life, though why, he doesn’t know.
When wolf pack alpha Rhene comes a-knocking to demand the omega back, Erwan is shocked by what Fate whispers in his ear. Then again, the same is true for Rhene. Neither one of them imagined their mate quite like this.
Two alphas? A dragon and a wolf? How on earth could that possibly work?
But they have bigger problems. It turns out Erwan’s father is hiding more than a surly attitude. Much more. Like an old connection with the wolves and a betrayal that runs so deep, it could tear Erwan and Rhene apart.
Dragon’s Mate is the first book in the Irresistible Dragons series. This is a spin off from the Irresistible Omegas series, but you don’t need to have read that to enjoy these two as they find their way into love. The love story ends with an HEA but the suspense plot will continue in the next book.
REVIEW:
Oh my goodness gracious (fans self) the Hayes and the Hightower packs are back and I’m beyond thrilled. Oh and there are dragon shifters too!
Rhene Hightower is the Pack Alpha of the new Hightower Pack. When Riordan, the omega that lost his fiancé in the Civil War doesn’t come back from his nature walk Rhene takes Adar and Isam, two pack guards, with him. When he stumbles upon a castle that nobody ever noticed before, but is protected by an invisible force barrier, he knows that his lost omega is there. When he confers with Lidon, the True Alpha, Palani (second in command of the Hayes pack, Lidon’s mate and Rhene’s brother) and Grayson, pack storyteller, they agree he has to get in and how to do it. What he wasn’t expecting to find was the gorgeous Erwan Doyle, Crown Prince, and his true mate. Erwan has been locked up and hidden away from the world in his father’s castle for 200 years. When the gorgeous alpha comes to rescue the omega that he saved he didn’t expect to find his true mate. A mate that is a wolf shifter and an alpha on top of that! How can a sheltered 216 year-old alpha dragon and a cocky and worldly wolf pack alpha make a life together when he knows his homophobic father will never allow it?
This series is starting off even better than I hoped. First we are finally getting to really know the final Hightower brother who is the baby and the only alpha! Rhene surprised me more than I expected. He has been hurt by being left out by his two much closer older beta brothers. And he is much more tender and caring than I expected. I know everyone thought of him as the playboy that wanted no strings. But he took being Alpha of his pack seriously and has grown up. I loved that his second in command, Sivney, was a forced to be reckoned with. He was one strong and determined Omega not to be fooled with and had the steel balls to back it up.
I felt for poor Erwin. He was a good person with crap for a father and uncle. They kept him in the dark even though he was the Crown Prince, heir to the throne. He was and is a man of honor. Honor, to him and dragons, was above all else. He had put his own desires aside believing that he would never find what he truly desired and needed. Thankfully Rhene knew what he was and took charge dispelling the old homophobic and antiquated beliefs he had been raised with.
I am really enjoying the beginning of this new spin-off series. I’m thrilled that we get to reconnect with the men from the Irresistible Omegas series. But I am looking forward to knowing this new pack more and how the addition of dragon shifters to a wolf shifter pack will work. I can’t wait for this series to continue. It already is shaping up to be a wonderful adventure.
