Aaron isn’t looking for love, but it finds him – and it has a few surprises in store…
A laidback man who goes with the flow
Aaron is happy for his friends who’ve found love, but he’s starting to feel as if he’s an endangered species – a single guy. Not that he’s looking for anyone. But if someone were to turn up, he figures they would be female, younger than his twenty-seven years, and as disinterested as he was in searching for a soul mate.
He’s about to get it wrong on most counts.
Working in the Acadia National Park, he meets all kinds of people, like that painter he met the other day. A quiet guy, but he certainly made an impression. Because for some reason, Aaron can’t get him out of his mind.
A bruised soul seeking inspiration
Dean has picked up his paintbrush again. A famous artist who’s spent the last couple of years producing book illustrations under a different name, he’s come back to Maine seeking inspiration – and leaving the past behind him. The glorious natural beauty breathes new life into him, and it brings with it a new friend, a handsome ranger, the only person Dean has felt a connection to in a long time.
But when that connection unexpectedly becomes physical and Dean’s emotions get entangled, he fears history is about to repeat itself.
He’s not about to let his heart be broken a second time.
REVIEW:
Aaron isn’t quite aware he got a longing in his eyes when he looks at his friends who (almost) all have a committed relationship.
He’s an easygoing guy, always thought he was straight until he meets Dean.
Dean returned to Maine and start painting again. He’s not looking for a partner, the last one ended badly and he’s still wearing the scars on his soul. Aaron is just a friend.
They start a friendship, and one of the things they do is get on walks through the beautiful landscape. More and more time they spent together, they have fun and at some point, they got to friends with benefits. It just started naturally as if it was meant to be.
You can guess what happens, they fit so perfectly, in no time they go all the way. Both keep their heart somewhat locked, afraid to get rejected or lose a friendship.
It was a joy to watch them, they have so much fun, a strong friendship is growing, there’s some steam to enjoy and a lot of camaraderie. Of course, we meet grammy and the other guys from the circle of friends. Dean’s painting skills are beautifully entwined with the story.
It’s such a comfortable read, no stress or nasty things are happening, just a sweet friendship with some delicious benefits. It all felt organic, honest, and uncomplicated, with just the sweetest MCs.
Overall another great addition to the series, I’m so excited for the next installment!
