The last thing I need is a curious straight guy sniffing around me. So why is he so hard to resist?
My life is everything I ever wanted—by design. Being one of the nation’s most sought-after wedding planners has led to a life of traveling to glamorous locations, bumping elbows with the rich and famous, and sampling every handsome hunk the world has to offer. I gave up the idea of happily ever after long ago, embracing my single status.
I was completely fulfilled until Luke barreled his way into my life. He’s jaw-dropping, can’t-take-your-eyes-off-him gorgeous, but alas, he’s as straight as they come. According to Luke, he was never into men before he met me. Flattering, but I’m not going there again. Been there, done that, have the scars to show for it.
I insist on an arm’s length friendship. It’s the right thing to do. As tempting as it is to help him explore, I simply don’t have the time or patience. That is until he kisses me. It isn’t long before I’m wondering if I’m ready to give up my Fancy Free life and take a chance on an unlikely forever. But if I do, will I get my heart crushed once again?
Fancy Free is a friends-to-lovers, bisexual awakening, steamy romp featuring a fabulous but reluctant wedding planner and his curious but inexperienced suitor. It’s book three in the Friendship and Desire series featuring men discovering that maybe they were always more than friends.
REVIEW:
Note: This is the third book in this series and even though it can be read as a standalone, it does have major spoilers for the previous books.
Luke is at a party at his friend’s house when he notices the most gorgeous man he’s ever seen. He’s never been attracted to a guy before, but he literally can’t take his eyes off of the guy. He realizes this is Hayden, Dom and Zach’s wedding planner. He’s absolutely mesmerized, but then he’s a bit awkward when he wants to get to know Hayden better.
Hayden loves his life and his business, but he’s not been lucky in love. He hasn’t found anyone to put up with his lifestyle that is very very busy and somewhat unpredictable with lots of travel and stress. Also? He’s not interested in being some straight guy’s experiment – no matter how gorgeous.
But a funny thing happens on the way to planning an anniversary party. Hayden believes Luke when he says he’s never been attracted to a man before and Luke believes Hayden when he says that he will need to take things slowly because he doesn’t want to get burned. Because Luke is so totally honest, Hayden agrees to go out with him. And boy, what a first date!
Hayden realizes that maybe he’s wrong about love. Maybe there is somebody out there who will support him and love him too. Then there is the chemistry – which is off the charts. And what about Luke coming out to his family/friends? Turns out, not that big of a deal. Hayden hasn’t been close to his Mormon family since he came out, but he’s welcomed with open arms into Luke’s family 🙂 This is the start of something beautiful
I just love this series of friends to lovers with some bisexual awakening tropes because they are done well. It’s clear that Hayden and Luke are very different. They come from different worlds but they have mutual friends who adore them both, so that is definitely something that gives Luke some comfort when he is pretty much knocked off his feet with his first glimpse of Hayden. This book has perhaps THE BEST first kiss ever. Seriously swoon-worthy. I adored these two from the beginning and I loved how open Luke was with his friends trying to get to a good place where he would be able to put Hayden at ease. Diego, one of the MCs from book 2 is a really good guy and helpful friend. If you love friends to lovers and bia-wakening stories with low angst, this one will I think be a sweet read.
My favorite duo, Tim Paige and Liam DiCosimo do a fabulous job narrating the dual POV story. Tim’s performance of Luke with his newfound attraction is so sweet and befuddled. Liam’s performance of Hayden’s reluctance and then slowly being won over was pitch perfect. These guys could narrate the phone book and I’d listen! Highly recommended.
