What are your strengths and weaknesses? If you feel like you can’t answer these questions without being biased, ask a friend in your niche or even a blog reader.
Talk about a question for self reflection. Let me think on this one.
Strengths – I can be driven and I’m hard working. I have a tendency to throw myself into things I really enjoy and love. If I get excited about something, I work hard until I reach that goal. When I’m motivated, I go for it non stop. I once write a book that completely drove my heart in sixteen days.
I find it easy to stop and start work, which allows me to make use of small amounts of time. I have written on plants, trains, and in the back of cars.
Weaknesses – Let’s see. There are drawbacks to being driven. I also tend to be short sighted, and forget about the others around me. My husband is completely understanding most of the time and takes good care of me. As I have grown older, I often find it harder to get motivated.

Casey thought long dead. But Casey has a daughter, and Vin is only home for a visit. Surely the bright lights of Hollywood will call him back to the City of Angels, so how can Vin and Casey build the life they both wish they had?
“I thought I saw someone out there,” he said without turning to look at him. “Dad… while I’m here, I’m going to do some cleaning up around the shop. I’d also like to meet with the agent who’s handling the sale for you. Could you call them?” It made his heart ache to know that selling meant letting part of his mother go. But it had to be done.
“You don’t need to,” he groused with a sigh, as if looking up a phone number was more work than he could bear.
“Why? Do you want it to just fall down?” Vin snapped. Then he wished he hadn’t. He took a deep breath. “If you’re going to sell, then we have to make it look like it’s worth buying. So I’ll try to clean it up, and the agent can come and take fresh pictures. Maybe we’ll get some new people interested if the shop doesn’t look like something time forgot.”
“It’s just too much work, and I don’t have the energy,” his dad said.
Vin turned to him, seeing his eyes filled with sadness and longing. Now Vin understood his dad’s reticence to go inside the shop. Being there reminded him too much of his mother, and his father still missed her like a limb. He got that. But letting the place fall into ruin wasn’t doing anything to honor her and the work she loved. To Vin, that was like saying his mother hadn’t mattered.
“Don’t worry—I’ll clean it up. Just call the agent so we can get it sold. Then you won’t have to worry about it any longer.”
His father spun around and stalked back to the house. Then he turned back to face his son. “Do you think I want to look at it that way?” he asked. “Did it ever occur to you that if it sold, I’d have to see someone running it, day in and day out?” He reached for the door.
Vin sighed. This was a no-win situation for his dad. “I know. But wouldn’t you rather see someone care for it than… that?” he pressed.
His dad nodded. “Okay. I’ll call the agent and see if she can come over tomorrow.” He pulled the door closed with more force than necessary. It was the most fire Vin had seen from his dad yet.
Now that he’d gotten some rest, he had energy, so he grabbed his keys and wallet from inside and headed out to the hardware store. He might as well grab the things he was going to need and get started. And who knew? Maybe his father would even decide to help.
