Can a chance meeting in the rain change someone’s life?
Meeting someone who can make him stop going is an eye-opener for Henrik. The man, Mikko, is his complete opposite, a steady rock in the wild rainstorm that is Henrik’s life, but the connection between them is both unexpected and instantaneous. Their encounter only lasts a few minutes, but before they part, they exchange phone numbers.
They live far away from each other, but soon they text and call daily, until Mikko is Henrik’s dearest friend and most trusted person. But a late-night question on the phone has Henrik re-evaluating his feelings. It’s impossible to love someone you’ve only met in person once … right?
Is the connection Henrik and Mikko forged long distance enough to sustain them when they meet again? And will their love be strong enough to give them the happily ever after they deserve?
REVIEW:
After years of living through their long distance connection, Henrik comes home from a family wedding. The falling rain reminds him of his initial meeting with Mikko at a yoga retreat. That singular moment brought Mikko into his life and he’s relied on this connection to Mikko during the three years since that fateful day. When they connect as Henrik is watching the rain at this home, Henrik asks the question that they’ve been dancing around for some time. It’s time that Henrik acknowledge what this really is and to figure out what he’s going to do about it 😉
This story is so lovely – 29 pages was all it took for me to fall in love with these men and want them to get their happily ever after. Their chance meeting at a yoga retreat where they shared a moment of quiet and bliss is the impetus for a years long long distance “relationship” that has remained so. But they share themselves with each other through their calls, texts and pictures. It’s clear that they are more than friends – even if they’ve not been together in the conventional sense. When they finally come together, it felt natural, believable, organic and real. I loved every word of this story and I was left with a warm satisfied feeling.
I can’t recommend this story enough. If you love a short story with all the feels, this one is definitely for you. Time and distance don’t stand in the way when two people are meant to be. Another master class in short story writing. Soooo good 🙂
