An ancient book of faerie magic. A renegade who will stop at nothing to possess it. And the two boys who stand in his way.
When fifteen-year-old Tar, part vampire, part something else, helps his father break into a remote house, he doesn’t care about the book his father is looking for. What he does care about is the little locked-up faerie kid. Merrick is alone, vulnerable and deaf.
The break in goes wrong, but Tar refuses to leave the eight-year-old even though it means facing his father’s fury. Events spiral from bad, to worse, to out of control: the book disappears, and Tar and Merrick are wrenched apart.
The boys grow into men, one living in the light and one in darkness, yet neither has forgotten the other. As powerful forces rise, the search for the missing book gains momentum, and Tar and Merrick’s paths collide once more.
Merrick is the key to the missing book and Tar is faced with a near impossible task: to keep the man he cares for safe, and do everything he can to stop the book and its secrets from falling into the wrong hands. And maybe, just maybe, save the world as we know it.
REVIEW:
Tar was one of a kind, what exactly he doesn’t know, yet. What he did know, was he’s part vampire.
Tar is fifteen when he’s on a shady job with his father somewhere in the woods. They have to find a special magical book, with unknown powers.
While his father looks around, Tar finds Merrick, an eight years old deaf faerie, he takes him with him, against the will of his father.
Creatures are after them, again for this special book. Tar couldn’t provide they captured, prisoned, and tortured him, thank goodness Merrick got away.
In the present, twenty years later, we meet Merrick again. He kept himself low, moving around the UK, and never stayed long in case they are looking for him.
Always wondered where Tar would be. Is he alive, would he miss him, would he want to be with him?
Then, their paths cross, and Merrick is delighted, Tar less. Tar is Head of Paranormal Resolutions, an eventful job. He wants to keep Merrick safe at all costs, even if this means they can’t be together.
Faith has other plans. Tar lives in darkness, now, there’s a light, Merrick, he can’t resist.
I can’t get into details, but the conquest of the book is one thrilling event. To discover how one-of-a-kind Tar really is, and what magic Merrick possesses and carries is breathtaking.
Between all this, Tar and Merrick are getting closer, more because Merrick has an irresistible attitude, when they get into action, it’s hot!
He’s really the light of this story.
This author has a brilliant way of writing, the fantasy you can find here is absolutely marvelous! The sexiness is hot and fun. The humor is subtle. Tar and Merrick are a great couple! Guess what, you will meet the characters from the previous stories again!
Overall a captivatingly written story, quite amusing, delightful, delicious, and with an amazing plot!
