An old-fashioned britches ripper with a tooth and claw twist.
Being the prince of all werewolves sucks.
Almost 10 years ago, I did my duty and married a female even though I was desperately in love with an older man. When she died giving birth to a child who could never take the throne, I ran. I left home, shirking my responsibilities, knowing eventually they’d catch up to me. Well, they have. My father now insists I marry a female half my age so I can father a proper heir and secure our rule over the First House for several more generations.
Being chosen to serve the king is a dream come true.
Even though I grew up poor, I worked hard to support my mother. When my mentor chose me to travel to America with the king, I was unbelievably honored to meet his son, the future ruler of all werewolves. I didn’t know how to react when I first laid eyes on Prince Caster, but he cast a spell over me with a single glance, and my life changed forever. I was not only looking at my future king, but the man made just for me. The moment his lips met mine, I knew this story would end horribly…in either heartache or death.
Denying destiny is a terrible idea.
As desperately as I want to ignore my attraction to the common brown wolf, I cannot. The moment I saw the warm glow of his amber eyes, the need to take him into my arms and drag him off to my bed was overwhelming. Alas, I have a duty to perform, and it doesn’t involve the man Mother Nature made only for me.
This story won’t end well…I just know it.
Night of the Blood Red Moon is a paranormal gay romance with an HEA ending.
REVIEW:
I love this spinoff of the Prosper Woods series. Castor intrigued me from his appearances in the first series. In this spinoff, we get Castor’s backstory. We find out that Castor is the heir to the king of the Khowardzadeh wolf pack. As the heir he’s being setup in an arranged marriage- for the second time. Since his first wife didn’t survive the birth of their first Child Oliver. There’s only one teeny tiny problem with the arranged marriage – Castor is gay and his bride to be is a 15-year-old girl.
With this new spinoff series – I highly recommend reading or listening to the Prosper Woods Series first as several characters from that series, make an appearance in this one. In this series Castor finds his fated mate, as intrigue and mayhem, once again rear their head in Prosper Woods. I think John Solo has found another author that he matches well with, when performing all the words. I was curious how the accents would be handled, as John is not an accents type of narrator. He pulled off all the accents in this book with subtlety and precision. I enjoyed his version of a Scottish decent when portraying the Scottish dire wolf king. John always finds a way to bring a nuanced performance to all his narrations and this book is no different. I can’t imagine all of the time and energy involved in creating all the voices for this series as well as pulling off decent, believable rendition of Farci. Probably my favorite parts of these books are the “Dear Crabby ” advice column, which begins each chapter:
“Dear Crabby, lately my 42-year-old son has grown a beard past his belly. He stays in our basement doing nothing but playing video games, drinking cases of beer, and strangely, going through tons of Kleenex. He rarely comes out, even when our neighbor, Dwayne complained that someone nearby was pirating his cable and charging adult barnyard movies to his account. What should I do about my boy?” Signed, “In the country and can’t stop crying.”
“Dear In the country and I can’t stop crying, I hate to tell you this but your son is no longer your son, but a man-goat. At this late stage, the only thing to do is immediately relocate him to the barn, chain him to a tractor, and light his oats afire.” Respectfully, “Crabby”
John pulls these off with great aplomb and humor. His portrayal of the action scenes leaves me breathless with anticipation for the next dramatic scene. We must also not forget the sexy times found in this book. As usual John brings the sexy, deep, growly voice to our main characters and it doesn’t disappoint.
If you’re looking for a wonderfully written and narrated paranormal mm romance about wolf royalty and their fated mates, this series is for you. I highly recommend picking up this series to enjoy the spectacular narration of John Solo-interpreting Patrice Logan’s beautiful, heartfelt words.
