Kidnapped and abused, Azim is losing hope. Can his fated mate save him body, mind, and soul?
Azim Boaz is a hard-working vampire who takes care of his family until his freedom is taken from him. Drugged and kidnapped, Azim is sold to a sadist. His strength and spirit are whittled away by his cruel captor, but hope arrives in the form of a tentacled saviour.
Working as a consultant on a missing person case Victor Thalassa catches the scent of his mate—one of the missing paranormals he’s searching for. Despite the connection between them, Victor doesn’t want to make the silent vampire his until Azim is strong enough to make his own choices.
Azim’s kidnappers want him back. Will Victor and the rest of the Shadow Team be able to discover who is behind the kidnapping ring, and keep Azim safe?
Victor #2 is a paranormal gay romance, with a vampire with an inner strength that rivals the world’s strongest man, and a kraken who learns the true meaning of finding the heart of himself in another. This is the second book in the Tangled Tentacles Series. Each book in this series will deal with a new couple, therefore while the HEA is guaranteed, the Epilogue for each book will lead into the next title.
REVIEW:
Rescued from his abusive captors, Azim is weak and vulnerable. Victor, his fated mate, Kraken Shifter, and part of the investigating agency that saved him, wants to nurture and protect him.
Victor is the second book in the Tangled Tentacles Series. During book one, I was acclimatized to Kraken shifters to the point where I looked forward to reading more with this novel. Victor was a super follow-up.
The story is written in the third person, with personal thoughts highlighted in a different font. Alternating chapters were from the viewpoints of Victor and Azim, and I don’t know if it’s just me or others find the same, but I get so engaged with the story that I often lose track of whose viewpoint it is. This makes recognizing some technicalities difficult, so I will keep schtum about that side of things.
So far, I am enjoying this series as it is entertaining, different and the characters pulled me into their world. Each brother is NOT a copy of his siblings – they all have individual hang-ups, talents, and places within the family. It was good to have Alexi and Danik’s relationship progression in the background – not taking center stage. There was also more insight into the personalities and interactive dynamics within the firm. All this makes me look forward to future manuscripts.
The opening paragraphs of this book made my heart melt. Victor is the middle brother with all the hang-ups that come with the position. He over-thinks, wonders what his place is, etc., and having Azim gives him a purpose. To see his journey to becoming a mentally stronger person was splendid and his Kraken is divine.
Vampires in this story are a touch different from other depictions. They have speed and strength, but other than drinking blood, they can pass as Joe Bloggs and are not creatures of the night. As this is a fated mates’ story, Azim is what Victor needs and vice versa, so I’m not going to go into detail here, as to do so would give away the plot. Also – there has to be something unknown to discover. One arc that continues from book one is the agency’s investigation into paranormal trafficking. Azim was taken to order and abused. This subject is tackled, and I believe the blurb covers anything that needs to be known without spoilers.
Overall, I really enjoyed Victor (out of context, that sounds so wrong!!). It’s a story of family, the importance of one’s mate, trust, and purpose, and that’s not including the drama, angst, and other events within the story.
