Being knocked up at my age with a younger mate was definitely not a part of my plans.
The Professor
There’s nothing I hate more than jocks joining my class thinking it’s going to be a free ride. Linebacker Tristan MacMahon is the worst of them all. He’s a jock, failing my course, and the mate I have no intention of spending the rest of my life with. But, when one night in my younger alpha’s arms leaves me knocked up, all my secrets come tumbling out.
The Linebacker
Choosing Napoleon and the French Revolution as an elective this semester is my first big mistake. The second is crushing hard on Professor Murphy when he’s off limits in more ways than one. He’s twice my age and an alpha just like me. Or so he says. But how does he explain becoming accidentally pregnant with my child? Fate might have chosen him for me, but can I get him to choose me to be his lifelong mate?
REVIEW:
Some days you just need a book like this. And that day fortunately was today!
When star college football player Tristan McMahon finally choose his elective it was too late for his first choices. Now he’s in Napoleon and the French Revolution with the stern Professor Murphy. And what does this professor have against him? He knows that he struggles academically but he’s trying his hardest. It wouldn’t be so bad if he could just focus on the class and materials but he can’t because all he can see is his dream man. Despite their age difference (Barry is twice as old as Tristian) his professor is an alpha like himself but he can’t stop fantasizing about the sexy older man. Barry has been presenting as an Alpha for years however never did the transitioning. Omegas in academia rarely were view as equally and tenure was basically unheard of. With the help of an experimental drug and lots of working out Barry has passed for being an Alpha for close to twenty years. All that falls apart with the entrance of the super star football jock in his class. Barry knows what’s up. He’s not stupid however he wants nothing to do with Tristan…even though trying to ignore your fated mate is darn near impossible!
I love a good age difference and and Alpha/omega story. This one had a nice twist in that Barry is older and presenting as an Alpha but is actually still an Omega. There is a lot of discussion on how the academic society discriminates against omegas hence why Barry felt the need to present as an Alpha but never did the steps to transition. I was slightly appalled at Professor Murphy’s constant badgering of Tristan in his class. I understood it more when his history with Coach Jensen came to light. However it was professionally inappropriate and wrong. I did love that, when he discovered what Tristan really was like he opened up and accepted him. I was concerned about Barry’s advance maternal age and the problems that can and do occur with late in life pregnancies. Add in the hormones that he had been taking, that were experimental/not approved, and I was doubly concerned.
I really liked the side story of Amos, Tristan’s teammate and Robbie, Barry’s much younger brother. I am hoping that we get their story too. And possibly Seth’s. That troublesome omega can be redeemed I hope.
I loved that fated mates rule over all adversities in this story. Love can and does conquer all. This was a great book that I am really hoping will develop into a wonderful new series.
