Faux Beau
Blue Mountain University 2
Liam
As the third of my name, I’ve always had a number of expectations placed on me. I’ve never felt like I can just be myself. But after one drunken night with Aiden, I’m not sure I care what anyone thinks anymore. When a work opportunity arises, it might be a good way to subtly test the waters, except Aiden helping me leads my father to the wrong conclusion.
Aiden
Over the years, flirting with Liam has become second nature; he was my first real crush. I didn’t think it’d lead to waking up in his bed after we drank too much. It changes things, but not as much as when Liam tells me his father thinks we’re a couple. I know Liam didn’t expect me to go along with it, but pretending to be his boyfriend shouldn’t be too hard. Right?
*Faux Beau is a fake dating romance novel with a HFN ending. Please see front matter for TW.*
REVIEW:
I have really been looking forward to this book.
Aiden is Ian’s identical twin. They both share an apartment together with their childhood best friend and Aiden’s dorm roommate Elliot. Aiden has always had a thing for his straight roommate Liam since that forbidden kiss in high school. Now that Liam works for his dad’s firm part time while going to college he just wants a chance to be more than just an errand boy. He wants a chance to show his abilities to help market campaigns. When a shoe company decides to market a new shoe for Pride Liam gets his chance and his presentation is chosen. In the middle of it all he outs himself to his family and lets it slip that Aiden helped him. His dad jumps to the conclusion that they are dating and now must convince Aiden to play along. But can all the touching and kissing stay just as friends that develop into benefits or will feelings be the beginning of the end for these two?
Aiden’s anxiety was seriously stunting him. It was getting in the way of him getting his driver’s license and it definitely got in the was of him ever developing any kind of relationship. His hidden problems just keep setting him back.
Liam has kicked himself more than once how he screwed up with Aiden years ago in high school. He just wasn’t ready to be out. Now that Aiden has agreed to be his fake boyfriend for appearance sake he needs to convince Aiden to give him a chance. But Aiden doesn’t do dating and definitely not relationships.
I get the reasons behind the fake relationship to further Liam’s career but Liam’s staying in the closet after he figured out his best friend Ian, Aiden’s brother, was gay and almost blew his chance at love should have been an example to him not to hide and lie. It will only bite you in the butt! I know that since Daniel and him started dating Ian has been absent a lot but if you can’t trust your best friend since grade school, who you happen to share a room with, then who can you trust?
Aiden’s anxiety was hindering his ability to function. I loved that Elliot was a true friend and his advice was spot on. I really want to know his/their story.
I enjoyed getting to see glimpses of Daniel and Ian but really loved getting to know what was up with Ian’s over-the-top flirt of a twin brother and how/why he pestered Liam so much. This ends in more of a HFN but I would love to hear if therapy makes a major difference for Aiden and how that impacts their relationship. Looking forward to more about these men.
