“Deak, you can’t spend the next month doing this.”

“Doing what?”

“This.” He waves his arm at the empty boxes, the empty crisp packets, and the TV. “Buying random shit online, eating your weight in saturated fats, and watching…”—He stares at the TV—“What is that? Jeremy Kyle? I thought his show got cancelled?”

“It did, these are repeats,” I reply. “I’ll give you a clue, out of the six guys, turns out none of them were the dad, her adopted brother was.”

“Eew.” He frowns. “That’s it.” He grabs the remote out of my hand, switching the TV off and tossing it onto the other half of the ‘L’ shaped sofa. He takes my hand and pulls me up gently. “Get your arse up.”

“Why?” I whine.

“Because I’m taking you out,” he says matter of fact.

“What like on a date?” I tease. “Jesse, this is so sudden.” I flutter my eyelashes coquettishly. “I don’t have anything to wear.”

He stares at me quietly for a moment. “You need to get out of these four walls before they close in on you. I’m taking you down to Sully’s for dinner then we can take a walk along the beach.”

“Along the beach?” I blink. “Jess, it’s the end of January, do you want me to catch pneumonia?”

“Yes, it’s all part of my nefarious plan to keep you trapped here with me.” He rolls his eyes, and for a moment, the thought occurs to me that it wouldn’t be so bad being trapped here with him. “You’ve been spoiled hopping from country to country to race on crystal blue waters in thirty-degree heat. You’re getting soft.”

“Take that back.” My eyes narrow.

“You need a solid dose of good British weather.” He grins. “If you’re lucky, maybe it’ll even rain.”

He’s got such a fucking beautiful smile. I can’t help that my eyes inadvertently drop to his soft lips and my belly dips slightly. I’m so desperate to lean forward and take his mouth. After a week of seeing him leave the house every morning wearing scrubs, I’ve now got a solid doctor patient fantasy going on, and I’m absolutely desperate to get my lips on his while I slide my good hand into the aforementioned scrubs and do very bad things to him.
