It’s true what they say. Possessing a pretty face has its perks, especially one I’ve relied on since I began modeling at seventeen. It’s paid for my college education and sent me around the world – all without taking a single dime from dad.
But it never got me what I truly wanted: his approval.
That’s the reason I’m in Stoney Brook, Maine.
To make a difference and prove to my dad I’ve changed.
What I don’t expect in this lobster fishing town is to catch feelings for a certain lobsterman. But Mason Proctor reeled me in, hook, line, and sinker.
Mason
I’m a homebody whose twenties are passing me by.
Something I hadn’t realized until I met Finn Caldwell, the pretty boy who breezed into town and hooked me with his smile. I want to be more like him; daring and fun.
The problem is my dad’s lobster business keeps me anchored down in a job, a town, and a future I don’t want.
I’ve played the role of good and loyal son long enough. I need to break free and live life on my terms. But I don’t have it in me to cut ties and tell my parents the truth.
Finn and I may be different, but we both have something to prove. He needs to prove his worthiness to his father.
I only need to prove my bravery to one man.

REVIEW:
A truly enjoyable novel by a new-to-me author.
Finn knows how to use his pretty face to get what he wants. He’s put himself through college and has supported himself as a highly desired fashion and underwear model with it. He established his environmental change group to watch out for offenses against the environment with money made by it. Now he’s up in Stoney Brook, Maine, at the annual Tall Ships Festival, to protest lobster fishing impact on whales. When a gorgeous man with dark bedroom eyes turns out to be a lobster fisherman he decides this is who he needs to talk to…among other things he’d love to do. Mason lives his life in line with his parents wishes, even if they aren’t anything that he desires. He hides those things deeply in the closet. Being the only living child left in his family he can’t disappoint his parents after his little sister died so young. So being and out and proud gay man and pursuing his dreams of being a hair stylist and makeup artist must remain a secret. His dad is counting on him to take over the family lobster fishing business. When Finn blows into town something is lit in Mason that isn’t easy to extinguish. But what happens when the “Pretty Boy” heads back to Boston when the weekend ends?
Mason is the honorable and hard working, don’t rock the boat, son. His wants and desires are buried deeply to please his parents at a cost to being his true self. Finn pursued his dreams but now wants to prove to his dad he’s worthy. Although the men seem like polar opposites (which they are) their need to please falls deeply within each of them. They are both hard working, responsible men but have lived two very different lives. But both are immediately attracted to each other and want the other.
I loved that Finn took seriously what he learned when out with Mason on his boat. I loved that he was more open-minded than I would have guessed and looked at all sides of the situation. His understanding of the perils that lobster fishermen endure and then was able to voice these new discoveries in his article was wonderful. He impressed me with his being able to grasp and take in all sides to make an informed and just decision.
I was a bit worried when the” meet the parents” dinner when a bit sideways in a way I wasn’t expecting. But true love is a powerful force when it hits.
I have really enjoyed this series. Getting to experience new-to-me authors along side so personal favorites. I’m so thankful I took a chance on this trip to Stoney Brook, Maine and hope that you enjoy it as much as I have been.
