REVIEW:
Devon Thompson reluctantly returned home for the summer before his senior year of college in LA. As soon as he graduated he ran as far from Stoney Brook, Maine as he possibly could and never wanted to look back. All that we there were his parents and his best friend Katey. Oh and the painful memories of how bad a life could be in a small town high school where you were daily tormented. Now that he has returned he’s a totally different man from the sad boy that left. He’s grow up and is his own self comfortable in his skin. When a chance meeting puts him face to face with his former tormentor he’s shocked how it goes. Owen Thompson has always been the golden boy of Stoney Brook. He’s gorgeous, a gifted athlete and deep down sorry for the jerk he was grown up. But his biggest regret just showed back up in town. Now he just has to make sure that Devon understands just how sorry he is and the regrets he feels.
The is nothing more stupid that a childish bet that grown men have as part of a dare. Owen was stupid to let his friends goad him into the bet. But they were rich and knew just how to play him for their fun. And his friends knows how much he needed the thousand bucks and Matty’s truck. But what he thought originally was a win for him almost cost him a lifetime of love and happiness. All over a stupid, childish bet!
I will say that the last baseball game was what changed me on this book. It was the clinch shot that worked. Of course I wanted Owen and Devon to work out however I was so pissed that the bet happen and was going to devastate Devon all over again so Owen feeling a bit of that loss and humiliation worked for me.
This was a quick read about two guys that almost let the best thing in their lives slip away.
