About Ari McKay
Ari McKay is the professional pseudonym for Arionrhod and McKay, who have been writing together for over a decade. Their collaborations encompass a wide variety of romance genres, including contemporary, fantasy, science fiction, gothic, and action/adventure. Their work includes the Blood Bathory series of paranormal novels, the Herc’s Mercs series, as well as two historical Westerns: Heart of Stone and Finding Forgiveness. When not writing, they can often be found scheming over costume designs or binge watching TV shows together.
Arionrhod is a systems engineer by day who is eagerly looking forward to (hopefully) becoming a full time writer in the not-too-distant future. Now that she is an empty-nester, she has turned her attentions to finding the perfect piece of land to build a fortress in preparation for the zombie apocalypse, and baking (and eating) far too many cakes.
McKay is an English teacher who has been writing for one reason or another most of her life. She also enjoys knitting, reading, cooking, and playing video games. She has been known to knit in public. Given she has the survival skills of a gnat, she’s relying on Arionrhod to help her survive the zombie apocalypse.

Ari McKay is a retired systems engineer turned full-time writer and seamstress. Now that she is an empty-nester, she has turned her attentions to finding the perfect piece of land to build a fortress in preparation for the zombie apocalypse, and baking (and eating) far too many cakes.
Rachel Langella is a creative writing teacher who has been writing for one reason or another most of her life. She loves all things spooky and/or vintage, and she’s given in to Ari’s corruptive influences and learned to sew so she can make her own vintage-style clothes and costumes. Given she has the survival skills of a gnat, she’s relying on Ari to help her survive the zombie apocalypse.
Mine was Fair Play by Josh Lanyon, followed closely by Heaven Sent by Jet Mykles. The rest – as they say – are history. Prior to that I mostly read Yaoi and watched OVA series (of yaoi manga). Ah the good auld days.
Good-Time Boys by Carol Lynne I won it in a contest and was hooked on m/m books.
Try by Ella Frank was my first “true” MM but Travis by Nicole Edwards opened my eyes to the possinilities….all I wanted was for Kylie to get out of the boys way lol
Menage by Emma Holly was the first. It’s MMF. I went on to read every MM book Loose Id and Ellora’s Cave before discovering dedicated MM publishers. Thanks for the giveaway!
Try by Ella Frank
It started with Heaven Sent by Jet Mykles. I went through Loose-id, Ellorascave and Changling Press in no time.
My first mm read was nuke fanfiction
After some fanfic (and some gay novels that were not romances, like David Leddick’s MY WORST DATE), Marie Sexton’s BETWEEN SINNERS AND SAINTS was my first official m/m!
Oh goodness that’s a difficult question…. I was reading yaoi manga and gay K-pop fan fiction for many many years before I discovered that M/M novels exist. Did I live under a rock? It felt like it when I stumbled on Casey McQuiston’s Red, White, and Royal Blue. I read that in one long overnight sitting and then I’m educate,y went to googling what else is out there. Since then I’ve been devouring M/M novels almost like air, for the past two years.
My first MM read was Cut & Run by Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux
Though I’m not entering this giveaway I couldn’t help chiming in on this question. Perhaps my first REAL M/M romance was the Front Runner and now decades later I still have fond memories of stumbling across this book. It WAS reflective of its times and doesn’t end with the HEA that we expect of M/M romances today but I do still return to it every few years for a re-read. Not long ago I bought the Audio-book version and gave it a go. Here’s a link to my review.

Jared by Kris Michaels. It’s a MM book in a normally MF book series. Well, I was fully hooked and never really looked back.
My Fair Captain by JL Langley. It was my first and basically changed my reading life.
Mine was the Adrien English series by Josh Lanyon
I don’t remember. It was something from the library in the early 90’s.
can’t remember
my first read is always by kindle alexander and i was hooked
It was the CUT AND RUN series by Abigail Roux. Wow! That series was amazing, from there I have gone down the rabbit hole and never want to get out!
Cut and Run by Abigail Roux
My first M/M was Mary Calmes A Change of Heart
Heart of Texas by RJ Scott and I’ve never gone back to mf. Total conversion!
Cut & Run by Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux…though I must remember it was my second the one which had me hooked, The Adrien English series by Josh Lanyon
My first was Hot Head by Damon Suede although I found MMF much earlier than MM.
Amy Lane’s…Keeping Promise Rock
A genre filled with amazing story lines, wonderful characters and romance! A slice of literature I’ll never leave.
Yes. I reread it so much. I loved it. Caught Running by Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux.
Thiefs punishment, which I bought by happy accident.
Listened to the audiobook of Phantom Lover… talk about having my eyes opened even though I’ve been reading yaoi manga for years!
My first was a Swedish book called Mitt hjärta går på (My Heart Will Go On) and it’s beautiful. I’m so sad most people can’t read it since it’s in swedish. My first English MM book was Heidi Cullinan’s Love Lessons
Court Appointed by AnneMarie McKenna.
