List story ideas you hope to tackle in the future
Last week I was on a cruise with my dad. I didn’t get much writing done, but I did have an entire day to sit on the beach and just write down idea for stories. And I came up with one for an entire series. This is very much in the idea phase, but I really like it. It’s a series idea with former military as the primary hero. They are all flawed characters, both inside and out. They don’t see themselves as heroes, but when the chips are down, they come through in a big way.
The interesting thing is that I see each of these characters differently. Usually when I get an idea, I get one for a specific story and then I build a series from that. But with this one, I see all four stories as a while with four separate love stories, each character different and special. Its rare for me to get that kind of huge overview. Not since Bronco’s Boys.
I al also working on a police officer story that I really like. I don’t have a title for it yet, but I suspect it will release in June through self publishing.
I hope you have a wonderful day, and all your stories move your heart
“Do you swim?” Dustin asked. “In high school I had dreams of swimming and making it to the Olympics. I was on the local team and superfast.” He rolled his eyes at himself. “At least I thought I was. I made the swim team in college as well and did very well, but decided I didn’t really have what it took to making swimming a life’s ambition. Needless to say, my parents were thrilled when I decided to go into medicine. But I still think my father would have loved an Olympian in the family.”
Charles gaped for a few moments, his mind flashing on an image of Dustin in one of those tiny bathing suits. He needed to stop this. It had been months since he’d been out or even thought about sex. Anna took all his energy. Yet it seemed, judging by the growing heat in the chill air, his body had other ideas. “I was on the swim team too. I loved it. And yeah, I too had dreams of Olympic glory at one point, but ended up taking a very different path. In college I swam for exercise and concentrated on my studies, and worked as a lifeguard at Lake Michigan beaches for the summers.”
“Have you thought of teaching Anna how to swim yourself?” Dustin asked, taking a drink from his glass, his full lips red and so kissable.
Charles’s head spun a little at the way Dustin assaulted his senses, and he actually thought about going home just to get away, because why would a handsome, hot, single doctor tie himself to a guy like him… with a kid in tow, no less? Not that Charles would change his mind about Anna. She was the most important person in his life, and if that meant that it was just the two of them, then so be it.
“Not really. I could, but sometimes it’s best that a child learns from someone other than a parent.” There were times when he could lose patience. Being a parent was sometimes overwhelming, and then add in that dynamic of trying to teach something… it got to be too much. He also thought it good that Anna be around other people. Their lives lately had been just the two of them, and adding more people to both their lives would be good. It was probably best for them if Anna took formal swimming lessons. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t spend all my time talking about Anna.” He hated when he did that. Charles was out for an evening with other adults, something that didn’t happen very often, and here he was, going on about his niece.
“It’s okay. She’s what’s important in your life.” And just like that, Charles warmed to Dustin even more. “What else are you going to talk about? We could converse about work… or the weather.”
“God, no. I live work during the week, and I won’t bore you with stories about it.” He sipped some more wine and realized that Amy had left their little circle and it was just him and Dustin. Other conversations were going on all around, and Charles hadn’t even paid any attention to anything. Dustin just seemed to pull all his attention.
