Lucky Match by Raquel Riley
Hearts For Hire, Book 1
After one date, I realized that would never be enough…
Lucky Maguire
I started Lucky Match, a dating service, as an enjoyable way to earn some extra cash. That’s how I ended up on a date with my super hot Economics Professor.
Here’s my three step plan to seduce my teacher:
Convince Hayes to fake date me.
Inform him that we were never fake dating; it was always real.
Make him fall in love with me.
How many dates will it take for Hayes to realize I’m his lucky match?
Hayes Brantley
After my divorce, I decided it’s time for a change. After missing being with a man for the past twelve years of my loveless marriage, I’m finally free to make up for lost time.
I called Lucky Match to hookup with someone who looks like the sexy student I can’t stop fantasizing about. I had no idea I’d end up with the real deal.
Is a second chance at love worth risking my career and another broken heart?
Lucky Match is a gay male escort romance with an HEA. This sweet heat, teacher/student story includes college roommates, meddling brothers, fake dating, a wise aunt full of Irish wisdom, an epic karaoke battle, and a pride parade.

Chapter 2
Hayes’ POV
On Monday morning, I was seated at my desk bright and early as I watched my new students file in on their first day of class. I liked to sit back and observe quietly, while other professors chose to walk in after everyone was seated to make a grand impression. I was not a grand impression kind of guy; my ego wasn’t big enough for that malarkey. When my students were settled and quiet, I stood and rounded my desk, leaning against it. Looking over my class, I could pick out a few students that seemed easy to label, like the girls chewing gum and still playing with their phones were probably going to scrape by. I could guess which guys were here on athletic scholarships. And the quiet studious geeks with books open and pen ready to take notes were most likely my easiest and more serious students.
Aahh, and there he was. There was always one in the bunch. The boy who would prove to be my distraction this semester. Hopefully, he wouldn’t notice how my eyes would constantly stray toward him during lectures.
He was a beautiful man, exactly my type. He didn’t seem to fall into a predetermined category, just a normal guy trying to do his best. Approximately 5’10”, lean but toned, with beautiful fair skin that would blush prettily when I called on him and put him on the spot. His dark auburn hair shined more red under the fluorescent lights, and he had beautiful hazel eyes that I could play ‘guess the color’ each day. I’d have to pay attention during roll call to find out his name.
“Good morning. My name is Professor Brantley. You may call me Professor Brantley. No nicknames. I’ve emailed everyone a copy of the class syllabus, and I will also hand out another copy today. Read it carefully because I will not accept excuses later on regarding grades and assignments that were clearly stated in the syllabus. We have several assignments this semester that will require a partner and count for a double grade, based on quality of assignment and participation with your partner. The reason is because I strongly suggest you learn to work as a group if you are serious about majoring in business economics. Your future employer will most likely require you to be a team player, so learn how to do so now. If you have a question, please raise your hand.”
I spent the next hour answering questions and reviewing class policies. All in all, it was a good morning. As the class filed out, I made a mental note of the ginger cutie’s name: Lucky Maguire. Interesting name. He was definitely going to provide a lovely distraction for the next fifteen weeks.
I still had two more classes to get through today but I couldn’t wait to get home. The first day always left me feeling drained. I think it was a combination of anticipation building up all week and then usually finding it was a bit anticlimactic coupled with how exhausting it was to meet so many new faces at once. I just wanted to breeze through this traffic and change into my sweats. Maybe I’d order a pizza tonight and watch a movie.
At around nine-thirty, I conked out on the couch and then moved myself to the bedroom after a loud commercial woke me up. I lay in bed, drifting off again as my mind pleasantly turned to colorful thoughts of red hair, hazel eyes, and a strawberry and cream complexion. I slept so well— until my alarm woke me the next morning. Unfortunately, I couldn’t remember my dream, but I was positive my overactive imagination would fill in the blanks all day long.
