REVIEW:
Carl is all set to head out on his adventure. He’s moving across the country to pursue his musical career dreams in LA. There’s just this one pesky problem that’s really bothering him…he really needs to lose his virginity before he goes. Up steps his best friend Hope to help him solve his dilemma. Ask her older college brother Devon, that Carl has always secretly crushed on, to punch his V-card. Carl had always heard the first time should be special and no one else was ever to the level of Devon!
I’m just not sure about this one. I liked that the two boys had secretly watched the other but never said a word. And that Devon was special to Carl even if he never knew it. However, involving the little sister in all the planning of Carl’s deflowering was a bit strange. And her researching foods so that would agree with anal sex and preparing them…just eww! Plus calling and checking up with Carl I could kinda get. It’s her bestie and it’s his first time. But that usually a conversation for after the weekend. But calling your big brother during the weekend you set up for him to have sex with her bestie…that’s a hard NO!!!!
Now we will get to the crust of the matter. Carl is going to Devon to pop his cherry. Devon is the sexually experienced one. Carl is so inexperienced that he has never even kissed. Yet from the get go he was always at least topping from the bottom. Then he goes into full on Dom mode and starts practicing orgasm denial. And I get it. He must have been watching A LOT porn because he seems to know what he wants to try. But then he takes complete charge and Devon just lets him? I know they discovered their kink in this weekend and it worked for them but everything seemed on super high speed for them. The sex, the falling in love, the wanting to be together was all really instantly.
I also questioned Devon’s abrupt change in character. He was always considered to be the safe, steady, reliable one. He’s in school on a scholarship and working. I know he’s not sure of what path he wants to pursue career wise but the direction he took was beyond shocking and irresponsible. I get that they fell in love and wanted to be together but this blew me away. Carl had wealthy parents to fall back on but Devon would be without anything if their blossoming relationship went badly.
And I still don’t get the spell casting and stuff. Did Carl actually believe in all that or was he just fooling around? I kinda believe he does.
So, although I liked both boys and was hoping for their HEA in the first part of the book, I was confused when Carl took over and lead the rest of the weekend. It was like the book flipped. I actually re-checked to see if there were two authors. Also, I think there should have been something that warned of the dominance and witchcraft parts.
