A victim locked in a closet.
A detective trying to get out.
Ram has spotted his dream locked room mystery case on the news – and he’ll stop at nothing to get himself involved with it. The problem is, newly-minted DCI Alex Heath isn’t too happy about it – and neither is his successor as DI…
An invitation to go home and visit family should be a happy occasion, but for Will, it’s quite the opposite. Spiralling into doubt and fear about Ram outing him to his parents, Will risks pushing him away entirely. And when he does go home, things aren’t going to be plain sailing. Will’s father is an ex-Ambassador, and he’s got many years of finding out secrets behind him.
As both are rocked by revelations about Will’s past and his present, Ram and Will have to contend with doubting policemen, ugly habits rearing their heads, and the struggle to trust one another. And there’s the question of how Harry got that black eye…
REVIEW:
You know, the author really knows how to get me with these books. I tell you what. These all have been intense books, with the murders and everything else going on. But with the interaction with the MCs this time, I was a goner. I was totally scared to death things were going to go back to being as bad as they were, with death coming to visit, but in the end I was surprised and happy. To a point. Because the absolute very ending, is ending is something very bad.
If you’ve kept up with this series up to now, you know it’s not been an easy ride for our MCs. If you haven’t read this series, you need to go back to book 1 and get started. It really is a series that is one to keep you hooked and on your toes. There’s so much going on that each page is like another treasure to be found. What’s going to happen next? Are they going to figure the murder out? What’s going to happen in their relationship? Are they going to call it quits or what? It’s just a constant barrage of what ifs and holding your breath, hoping they don’t do the wrong thing or take the bad route they just got out of.
And with the other characters, it just rounds the book out. It really does. You’ve got the bad guy that you really want to throat punch or worse, the good guys struggling to be who they are and be better at it, because the past has really messed them up and it’s not getting much better. The friends they’ve acquired they are fighting with everything to keep dear, but not trying to push it too far. It’s just so much.
But as bad as I hate for what happened with Will, you’ll see if you read it, I’m happy that it finally came to fruition and maybe finally, he can be who he’s meant to be all along. And know that he finally has a home that he’s wanted all along. It was just there right in front of him the whole time.
Can’t wait to see what’s next.
