Chapter 3: Rory Kinsella

 

“I’ll cover lunch for us next time if you want me to join you again,” I said. It was silly to make such an offer when he was a literal multimillionaire, but fairness was important to me. Kieran probably had all kinds of people who used him for his money. I didn’t want to give him the impression I was one of those types.

He gave me a genuine smile that made my stomach do weird flip-flops again. “It’s not necessary, but I appreciate your offer. I’d love to join you for more lunches and dinners if you’re open to it.”

“I would enjoy that.” It was hard not to blush like a fool. “It’s been nice not having to be alone.”

He rested his head in his propped-up hand. “Doesn’t that kind of defeat the point of a me-moon?”

“I don’t think so. It seems like a very me-moon vibe to selfishly want to do something for myself I’d normally be too shy to do.”

“Well, I wholeheartedly approve.” His words filled me with a burbling happiness I didn’t understand. “How did you sleep?”

My cheeks grew heated. Since I was as pale as a ghost, there was no chance he wouldn’t notice. “Really well, since you were kind enough to move me to the bed. Thank you for that, by the way. It was nice not waking up with a crick in my neck from being in an awkward position on the couch.”

“After a long day of travel and paying a pretty penny for the privilege, you deserved to sleep in that enormous bed.” He flexed his other arm, drawing attention to his well-defined arms. “These muscles have to be good for more than just making millions, after all.”

I couldn’t hold in my laughter. “Yeah, I suppose so. Thanks for using your muscles to take care of me.” My blush deepened when I realized what I said had been an unintentional innuendo based on the way his green eyes lit up in amusement. “Um, sorry. That came out all kinds of wrong. Don’t mind me.”

He laughed but not unkindly. “It could come out all kinds of right if you were so inclined.”

I flashed back to the confusing orgasm I had earlier inspired by two men being together, flustering me all over again. “M-m-maybe.”

One of his eyebrows quirked upward. “Hey, I’ll take a maybe over a flat-out no any day of the week.” His reaction left me tongue-tied, but he had no issue continuing the conversation. “Can I tempt you more?”
