Brandon is a scholar who is willing to go anywhere to follow the myths and legends he’s been obsessed with since he was a child. Dragons. So when his quest for those legends take him from Colorado to deep within the heights of the Uintah range in Utah, where his twin Justin has been hiding out, he happily follows the trail.
Abraham is a contented dragon. As the family historian he has his books, and now he has new avenues of research to investigate too. When he needs social time, he cooks for his brother and his cousins. He doesn’t really need a mate. So when Brandon comes along, Abe is certain Brandon his meant for his cousin Seth, and he rarely comes out of his study.
Frustrated by Abe’s lack of response, Brandon sets out to prove to Abe that he’s Abe’s equal in the library, and in all the other ways. He knows what he wants, and he sees how wonderful it can be to be a dragon’s mate thanks to his brother’s happiness. Now all he has to do is convince Abe that he can step away from his books once in awhile and that they’re meant to be together forever.
REVIEW:
NOTE: This is the third in this series and is much better read in order. Jumping into the story of this dragon family in the middle might be a little confusing.
Brandon, Justin’s twin has finally arrived at the Utah dragon lair. He’s a historian like Abe and has been studying all the documents and books he can find. He has delayed his arrival because of his research with the Colorado dragons, the Drakes. But when he arrives, it’s clear that Abe has feelings for Brandon. He’s just not sure what those feelings are since Abe is grumpy.
Abe is the historian of his family and his hoard is based on his books and his archive. He’s jealous and grumpy and snappy with Brandon. Not because he doesn’t like Brandon, but because he’s sure he isn’t going to have a mate. He’s got to be content with his work and his study and and his research. But it’s soon clear that he can’t stay away from Brandon.
Abe and Brandon start to work together and well nature takes it’s course. But they both have some things they have to get past. Abe never thought he deserved to be happy and Brandon never has belonged anywhere. He’s always been the misfit his entire life. So when he thinks he’s not being a good mate to Abe – being in his space, moving around his archive, he begins to avoid Abe much of the time. This of course does NOT go well. They have to work to get back together to a good place.
Things definitely don’t go to plan for Abe and Brandon. But Brandon is happy to finally be a dragon. He knew his whole life that this was what he was meant for. Now if he and Abe can just figure out the future together, everything will be perfect. And while it takes time, their path becomes clear and they have everything they ever wanted.
This was so sweet! Abe is definitely the grumpy one, but Brandon is not really a sunshiny one 😉 They fit together once they can get out of their own way. It takes them a while to communicate well, but once they do, things get on track. There are new babies, new familiars and more crossover from this author’s previous Dragon series. Yes there is a formula here, but it’s fun to be introduced to new mates, latent dragons and more dragon babies. I really really hope Zeke is next to get his mate and maybe we had a little foreshadowing in this one 😉 If you like dragons, dragon babies and lots of sweet family interaction, then you’ll enjoy this new book in these series.
