The Game Series is a BDSM series where romance meets the reality of kink. Sometimes we fall for someone we don’t match with, sometimes vanilla business gets in the way of kinky pleasure, and sometimes we have to compromise and push ourselves to overcome trauma and insecurities. No matter what, two things are certain. This is not a perfect world, and life never turns out the way you planned.
REVIEW:
This is book 4 of this series, and while reading the others will give you the lay of the land so to speak, but I don’t think it would take you long to catch up. However, I definitely recommend reading the other stories in this series, as they are very different from this one. I admit that Cara Dee has been an auto read for me and having read the first three books and really enjoying them, I don’t think I read this entire blurb in detail. The one word I missed was Little. Unfortunately, this story jumps pretty quickly into that territory.
Noa is the Little. He is in a “relationship” with Cameron, although their sexual/kink needs/wants don’t really jive with each other and they both have crushes on other men in the kink community. They never waiver from their relationship together, although it feels more like bffs to me than anything else, while they each encourage the other to go after their other men. Noah is after his ex-stepfather, KC, and Cameron is after Lucian, a dom he wants but who wasn’t looking for anything serious. Noa and KC get quite a bit more screen time than Cameron/Lucian.
However, I really struggle with the Little aspect. It’s just very difficult for me to read and enjoy it. That aside, there were some really hot scenes in this story. I have read just about everything Ms. Dee has written, and the writing in this one just felt like it was trying too hard. My guess is she was trying to capture and portray the Little aspect, which may be 100% accurate, but not being someone who enjoys that, I found it a real struggle. The story focuses a lot on their sexual needs/wants which I felt overpowered any other aspects of their lives. Again, maybe 100% accurate, but I struggled.
Aside from those issues, the characters have some cute/sexy and interesting characteristics, and if you don’t mind the kink aspect, you will probably really enjoy this story. Even if you don’t, I definitely recommend you check out the rest of the series. And if you like things a little more hardcore, Ms. Dee has some other fabulous stories that fit that bill as well. I haven’t moved Ms. Dee off my auto read list, as I’m chalking this story up to “it’s not you, it’s me” and looking forward to her next offering.
