REVIEW:

When he was declared dead by his own country without even exerting effort to look for him while he was being held prisoner by the Taliban, and learning that his brother and his husband are already mourning him and scattering his ashes in the ocean, what else could Italian Special Forces Comsubin Stefano Barbera do? Likewise, presented with the proof that there is an order to eliminate his husband for being with him, what Stefano could only do is remain dead to keep the Love of His Life alive.

Being a Ghost has found him with his new family, a group of men and a few women who will do whatever it takes to protect people and government from all over the world from insurgents and terrorists. Although they are sanctioned, they still have the freedom to do whatever it takes to save, infiltrate and topple whatever organization may be holding the proverbial card against humanity and freedom. But Angelo Selvaggio never thought that he would one day be facing the Love of His Life once again. But desperate times calls for desperate measures, right?

While taking a few days’ rest after an operation, Angelo and his teammate Danny, learned about the kidnapping of the Italian PM and his detailed guards, one of whom is his brother, Valerio. Valerio is also a Comsubin and his team were the ones assigned to accompany and protect the Prime Minister while on his visit to the foreign land. They learned that except for one soldier, all the members of the team were killed. Like any brother would do, Angelo was already on his way to save his brother, but first he needs the latest intel from someone he left behind all those years ago.

Because of his inability to take any more “bullshit” Vittorio “Toro” Gambino has been relegated to stay in a terrorist-infested country to gather intel and report to his country. After losing his husband to a roadside bombing a few years back, Toro accepted the job because for one, he doesn’t really have anything left in Italy. His home is gone. When someone out of the blue called him regarding the disappearance of the Italian PM and the Comsubin who were with him, he agreed to meet them. Although there was something familiar with the one named Angelo, he couldn’t believe what Angelo was saying and what he was seeing with his own eyes because it just isn’t possible right? In his mind he thinks that these things only happen in movies.

When the rest of Angelo’s Ghost team arrived, Toro slowly started to believe and maybe, hope, that there might be a possibility that everything Angelo is saying is true. Meanwhile, Angelo has really done it this time, although he gets fired a few times every month it has never really happened in reality but he is afraid that this time, it will become one. He has not only told Toro secrets about his real identity but also that of his team, not the members’ real identities because even he doesn’t know most of them, but that of his team and their organization. He knows that his hours are dwindling down. Rock will not tolerate what he has done.

I love Ms. Annabella Stone’s amazing stories! They are my favorite tropes, military, covert ops, strong alpha males who will do whatever it takes to save and protect those who cannot protect themselves and most especially, the loves of their lives. I love the action and the different countries mentioned in each book, but most especially the brotherhood that comes with being a member of such a special group. I can’t wait to read more about the Ghosts Protectors!
