Winston Young stumbles upon the Playground bookstore while looking for a birthday gift for a friend, and running into a lovely and unusual employee there makes it feel like fate. Mickey’s flamboyant dress and shy smile make him a delightful mix of elfish and vulnerable, and despite a bad relationship with a young man in the past, Winston thinks Mickey might be the boy he needs.
Mickey Jordan is used to living in a big warehouse with a bunch of artists and not very much privacy. When Winston takes him home, he knows he could get used to the kind of care Winston offers, but he’s determined to pay his own way.
Winston is still trying to find a middle ground for them when the dangerous side of Mickey’s bohemian lifestyle catches up with him. After a frantic search for Mickey and a few days in the hospital, Winston decides it’s time to make Mickey his, to be his Daddy and keep him safe, and he’s determined to make Mickey understand what Winston believes he needs. Can the free spirit and the older man find the balance they need to make a life together?
REVIEW:
I liked this book a lot better than the first one. The relationship didn’t seemed as forced. Both Mickey and Winston got exactly what they were longing for. I was surprised that Winston wasn’t sure how to approach Mickey about him being a Daddy. Mickey knew about his boss Benji being Cary’s boy and Cary being his Daddy. And he knew that Winston was a part of that group of men that got together.
Winston was so sweet and gentle with Mickey. He knew there was some kind of troubled past but he took his time and didn’t push. He was a sweet, kind, loving Daddy that just wanted to snuggle with and take care of his boy. I like the dynamic that Winston was older and larger and he could literally carry his boy. Especially after Mickey was hurt so horribly. Watching his boy lay in the giant hospital bed all broken was so difficult. Thankful he could devote himself to his care and well being not physically and mentally. And Winston didn’t want to keep Mickey from his friends, he just wanted him safe and protected. And I liked that he was going to take Mickey to take things to the warehouse to help provide for his friends.
All in all, I really enjoyed this sweet, warm book. It was a short read but left me wall kinds of warm and fuzzies.
