REVIEW:
This is an omegaverse like I have never read before…and I love it…A Lot!!!
Omega College student Junior-Year Toby Camden has suddenly developed an extremely rare disorder later than the very few documented cases known had presented. Now he is plagued with out-of-control heats and near convulsing shifting at lightening speed back and forth between his human body and his wolf. While in the throes of his heat he can’t control himself and is ravenous to mate to try to put out the inferno raging within his lithe body. Consent isn’t an option when a souperomega’s heat’s hit. All medical staff can do is try to protect him from himself and do as little damage to himself as he endures this. Headmaster Julian Tett is extremely concerned for the young omega’s health and welfare. But, after meeting his wolf is clawing to get loose and protect and care for Toby. Whether either man realizes it or not their wolves know…they are fated mates. And, as Dr. Abast discovers, only a true mate can help control these wild heats. Ones that can not only come once a month but can be triggered by stress and strong moons!
You can’t help but feel for Toby. He’s a nice boy that doesn’t make waves. He’s a good student and a loyal friend. I know he questions the whys of all this sudden change. What did he do to cause this to happen? And I get that totally. You have to blame someone or something because it’s all chaos and out of his control. What did he do to make this happen? Now he also questions whether he has lead on Julian and if he had lead on the jerk Ritner. That boy was trouble with a capital T. Sure being praised about his looks and self made him feel better but he never lead Ritner on. The guy was just a super sleaze! Thankfully the others began to realize it but almost too late.
I fell for Julian the moment we met him. Who doesn’t fall for a sharp dressed man??? Gorgeous, caring, professional ✔️✔️✔️ Add to that that he had to, more like compelled beyond his usual self, to take care of Toby and he knew that he had no control over that, even if it meant the end of his professional dreams. That is how much Toby meant to him…Toby is his mate and he will do any and everything to protect and care for the stunning and rare Arctic Wolf, including give up his headmaster position, if that is what it takes to have his mate!
The part I loved most was when Julian lead Toby to understand that these things happen and aren’t the fault of their own actions. Toby completely accepted Jillian’s wolf without question. I loved that Julian helped Toby to understand his condition wasn’t his fault just like Julian’s wolf’s disability was the result of a accident. It didn’t change who they were or what they were to each other. It was just to be accepted and move on.
I loved Toby’s best friend Brandon and hope the next book in the series is about him and Blade. I also hope that we eventually get Julian’s best friend and fellow teacher Caleb’s story too.
This was a very unique (in a really good way) book. I loved that the author include a note describing how this omegaverse was constructed. It helped to put you in the mindset of how things worked and kept if you from second-guessing things. I wish more authors that transport us to a new and unique place did this more often. It was brilliant and set the stage for the stories to come. I can’t wait to visit this series again!
