The Beast of Her Dreams – Naomi Piper
During the day, Emaline is a normal student, struggling with her classes as any other student. However, the moment she falls asleep, she dreams of a beast in the forest. Every night she dreams the same and, as it’s only a dream, she can freely admit her growing attraction to this beast, right? That is, until one of her classmates seems to know her better than she should and the school reports sightings of a beast on campus.
It is a great story, although at moments, the story felt really fast paced, which threw it a bit off-balance. Similarly, some of the characters left me wondering what the purpose was of introducing them, as they never returned after their introduction and single scene. Because of this, it felt that the story didn’t fully get the closure, leaving the reader wonder what that was all about. Similarly, Emaline’s best friend Indie didn’t have the depth one would expect the best friend of the main character would have.
Contrary to this, I loved the connection between Emaline’s dream world and the real world. Through the school’s announcement of beast sightings, the border between dream and reality fades, for both Emaline and the reader as well. Also, by keeping the POV with Emaline throughout the story, the reader knows just as much as Emaline does, which adds to the mystery of Emaline’s dreams. The sex is steaming hot and the addition of a girl penis is great, it definitely added to the fun for them as well as for the reader.
Despite the fast pace and the occasional odd character introductions, the story was great. It was well-written and the effort that went into the beast, the family, and the dreams was definitely praise-worthy. I liked the story a lot, but the story should have been a bit longer to make the characters more dynamic and less flat.
