A tragic car accident stole Blake Caldwell’s beloved wife from him and his son. Six years pass. Blake, appointed alpha of a small pack, moves to Montana. He isn’t looking for love, and he certainly doesn’t expect his wolf to go berserk when he comes face to face with Robert. He’s found his true fated mate… what now?
Robert Sanna has made mistake after mistake, like sleeping with the wife of the man he’s been in love with since he was ten. Robert has learned his lesson messing with fated mates. He’s also learned he’ll never carry on the family name like his parents expect.
They might be fated mates, but Blake’s close-minded pack council resists the mated male pair. Complications arise from a she-wolf who’s set her sights on being the Alpha mate—and on Blake. And Robert’s fears might ruin everything. Can love win? Or will life tear them apart?
REVIEW:
I couldn’t wait for Robert’s redemption/awakening story!
Robert has made many mistakes. He hid from his parent’s his sexual orientation. He blew it badly when his best friend and love interest Zach not only refused to leave his loveless marriage and run away with him. He slept with Zach’s wife and then kissed Zach when his fated mate Tommy entered Zach’s house to run him off. Now he has come face-to-face with his own fated mate, the new Alpha of the neighboring Tyler Pack, Blake he must decide to accept his Fated Mate or deny the Fates!
This book brought forward the homophobia of the ancient elders and their archaic beliefs. Their inability to be flexible and open their eyes to what has changing/happened. Going as far as to dismiss the Fates and their choices. I loved that Blake, in all his pack aloha glory, went after his fated mate and didn’t let him hide. I know he was fearful of his dominating parents, especially after what Zach’s evil father forced him to do.
Watching Jamie, Blake’s young son accept Robert onto their family was a treat. And it definitely solved Robert’s inner turmoil with following his desires and the fact that he would be childless as a result.
I am still really interested in the human hunters and what connections, if any, they have with any of the packs. And it was nice to meet one of the more friendlier dragon triplets. I can’t wait for the future generation’s stories.
I am enjoying this spin-off series and can’t wait for my next quick read. This one was a delight!
