LENGTH: 278 pages
RELEASE DATE: January 18, 2022
BLURB:
Peter Marshall has had enough of working for Parks and Rec when he comes across an opening for a real carpentry job and decides to give it a go. Building things is his passion, so even though the shop seems a little out there, and the owner seems pretty grumpy, Peter decides to go for it.
Brandon McPhail wishes he didn’t have to hire a new carpenter, but his current one is going out on maternity leave. He’s especially wary of this kid who can’t possibly be old enough to spell BDSM, let alone know what the lifestyle means. But Peter impresses Brandon with both his talent and his tenacity, so Brandon hires him on, reminding himself that he’s in a wheelchair due to his MS, he had a terrible experience in his last relationship, and despite how clueless Peter is about the lifestyle, he’s not interested in taking on another sub.
The chemistry between them is undeniable, though, and it’s not long before they’re exploring what they can learn from each other. Peter is a natural at fulfilling Brandon’s needs, and Brandon thinks he’s teaching Peter everything he’s eager to learn, but when danger threatens, they have to help their friends through it while trying to navigate their new relationship. Can they forge bonds strong enough to bind them together for life?
Note to readers: Each book in this series is a true standalone, so don’t be confused when you discover that Hide Bound takes place before Just Dex in the “timeline”. That was deliberate, and you don’t need to have read one to read the other.
REVIEW:
Brandon McPhail doesn’t want to loose his friend, fellow employee and master craftsperson however she is literally about to pop with his godchild any time. Which turns out to be that night! Now he has no master carpenter and orders need to be finished. However that’s not his forte and he’s going to have to hire someone now! When Peter Marshal walked into Brandon’s shop he did a quick turn around. This couldn’t possibly be the boutique that was hiring a master craftsman. These pieces of furniture were exquisite and kinky as all get out!!! But when Peter proves to Brandon that he really is that talented he has no choice but to hire him. But now what was he going to do with all this attraction for the sweet boy who needs him as much, if not more, than he needs him?
I am usually a huge fan of these authors and their books however this one just didn’t do it for me as much. It was a little too insta-love for me. One moment Brandon is cranky as all get out and then suddenly he’s all smiles and love. There was no slow burn but just wham…love and total submission. I would have liked the men to have discussed more because Peter wasn’t even aware of his attraction to the kink. He just thought he was weird. I also wasn’t sure if I liked Brandon choosing more piercing than he discussed with Peter. Piercings are very personal.
I did appreciate that Brandon took charge with the whole Alain business and keeping both boys protected. I would like more of Alain and hope he gets his own story. I know it isn’t with Master Cyrus because his book was the first in the series even though this book takes place chronologically before book one in the series. I also really want Neil’s story. And is it connected to Issac?
The side story of Brandon mostly in his wheelchair because of his MS was a new twist for me.
If you want a fast paced instant attraction/love story with kink then this is the story for you. I really like Peter and Brandon but wish they had taken the time to build on their relationship slowly like Brandon suggested at first.
