AUTHOR: Allison Temple
PUBLISHER: Self-published
LENGTH: 67 pages
RELEASE DATE: January 10, 2022
BLURB:
Recently single, Tyler is done moping around his apartment. He’s taking life—and himself—in hand, starting this weekend. All he needs is for one very special delivery to arrive, and his party for one can begin. But things get awkward when he comes home to find his box of fun in the hands of his very confused—and very hot—neighbour.
Gray’s not used to being the centre of attention. He works at home and doesn’t mind being single. People are messy. It’s easier if he looks after himself. But when a misdirected package opens up a world of possibilities, Gray knows this isn’t something he can do on his own.
Tyler is a teacher—by profession and by calling—and Gray soon becomes his very willing student. But if the lessons learned are only physical, what will Gray and Tyler’s hearts do when the weekend is over?
The Neighborly Thing was formerly titled Toy Story and offered as a newsletter exclusive.
REVIEW:
Ohmygod this story is freaking adorable!!! I loved Gray so so so much. He’s so shy and self-effacing and Tyler couldn’t be more different. I loved how assertive Tyler was and also his self-confidence. He realized his last relationship was on life support way before it ended. While he does think Gray is hot, what he’s most attracted to his sweet and shy nature. He’s appalled that a guy as nice and gorgeous and shy as Gray is hasn’t had any kind of a fulfilling relationship. Tyler figures out pretty quickly that Gray does NOT have a lot of confidence or experience. But he vows to give Gray a safe space no strings environment to explore. He feels bad that it’s obvious Gray has not been with the right people. Gray’s introversion and lack of contact with people have left him uncertain about how to interact with Tyler and what his interpretation of Tyler’s words and actions are 🙂 I loved how much he was second-guessing himself, because really, don’t we all? I loved the Tyler was so free and open with who he was and what he liked and how much he wanted to Gray to feel good. And desirable. And worthy of love and pleasure. The trading of embarassing moment with these two was adorably funny. This quick little weekend tutorial/fling/potential romance was funny and sweet and just lovely. Two fabulous MCs who connect in a very unexpected way 🙂 Highly recommended for short story lovers who enjoy a sweet and spicy romantic encounter that leaves the door open for something more. 😀
