Right place. Right time. Right name.
Drew
When my parents decided to name me Andrew, I doubt they could have imagined it would lead me here…
Where is here, exactly?
The short version – the Wattleglen Inn on Long Island, where my roommate’s billionaire brother has roped me into pretending to be his boyfriend for a family wedding weekend. All because I happen to have the same name as the ex his family still thinks he’s dating.
The long version – a ton of questioning, fantasizing, and giving in to temptation after being on the receiving end of the most epic BJ I’ve ever had in my life.
Sullivan Stapleton is the last person I should be getting involved with; he’s on the rebound, he’s a guy, and he’s a freakin’ billionaire who never saw a problem he couldn’t throw money at.
But I can’t turn down the cash he’s offering to be his fake boyfriend for the weekend; not when I’m in dire need of funds to repair some storm damage to my auto-shop.
And then after the wedding…well, I should walk away. But for some reason I just can’t seem to let go.
REVIEW:
Note: Technically this is book 2 in the series, but it works fine as a stand alone – however it does contain major spoilers for the first book.
Sullivan Stapleton, aka Sully is a rich guy who has had a bad run of boyfriends. His last boyfriend leaked information about one of his best friends causing lots of trouble. Needless to say Sully dumped his ass. But now his sister is getting married and his mother is assuming that the former BF, Andrew, is still coming with him. UGH!!! Now he needs to find a date.
Drew owns a garage with his bestie. He’s a former swimmer, now tattooed mechanic who loves his shop and his auto parts store. Sadly a storm has caused damage to his business and the insurance company is not going to stand by the policy and pay for the repairs. He really need to get some cash quick to cover the repairs, keep his store manager and get back in business. His roommate Deacon just happens to be Sully’s brother. Hmmm. Sully needs a date, Drew needs cash. Maybe they can come to an agreement. So what if Drew’s never been with a guy before. How hard can it be to pretend for a couple of days?
When they arrive to the wedding venue after having spent little time together, Sully and Drew have to sell it. And do they ever. Drew is not only not turned off by being physically close to Sully, he actually really likes it. He’s discovered that long buried or ignored desires have come to the surface. And he’s interested in doing a lot more with Sully. So when they get back to the real world, they do get together – mostly out of the public eye at first. But then Drew is ready for more and so they go public 🙂 Despite some cold feet at some point and some interference from a blast from the past, the work on a real future together.
This is a really fun series! I really liked Sully from the first book and I like him even more in this one 🙂 He’s a really good guy and I loved how he was with Drew. He didn’t push, but he also didn’t treat Drew like he didn’t know what he wanted. Drew for his part was really a sweet guy who is surprised by his desires that he had really never acknowledged to himself. His attraction to and genuine desire for Sully is somewhat shocking at first, but then he realizes that he never really examined his feelings about other guys before. Sully was really understanding and let Drew lead their relationship in a lot of ways. It turns out the Drew’s biggest hurdle isn’t really the guy thing, but his own self-esteem and seeing himself as worthy of someone like Sully. Thankfully there are lot so folks around the knock some sense into the both of them.
One of my absolute favorites, Nick Russo does his usual fantastic job narrating this story and this series. His voice choices for Sully and Drew were perfect. There are lot of characters in this story – parents, friends, colleagues, etc. and I was never confused as to which characters was talking. Drew’s apprehension and issues with feeling like he would ever be good enough for Sully was totally believable. His confusion in facing his own sexuality was just so good and I wanted to give him a big hug. Sully’s desire for Drew and sharing his true feelings for him were so sweet. The characters from the previous book, Spencer and Will are totally consistent and I was happy to see them again – particularly Will 😉 Absolutely adorable and hot and sexy and sweet. Highly recommended! Can’t wait to see who finds love next 😉
