Love Bytes Reviewers’ “Best of 2021” Day #10 – Cheryl K

Welcome to the Love Bytes Reviewers’ Best of 2021

Another year has passed in which books have brought all of us a much needed escape and sense of comfort. Our Love Bytes team reviewed approximately 1,300 LGBTQ+ books in 2021, from  contemporary romance to fantasy, paranormal, historical, adventure, mystery, comedy and everything in between. Each day for the next few weeks, we will feature one of our reviewers’ top picks from books and audiobooks published in 2021. These lists highlight how diverse our tastes in reading are, and offer something for everyone. With thousands of fantastic new books each year, written by hundreds of creative and talented authors, it’s so difficult to narrow our lists down. We all have many favorite authors not featured here and wish we could acknowledge them all.

Cheryl K’s 2021 Favorites

Whisper – Audiobook  by Tal Bauer (author) and John Solo (narrator)

Review

There is nothing better than the combination of one of my favorite authors and my favorite narrator. And this audio book covers that. John Soto has a unique way of bringing Tal Bauer’s words to life. The level of emotion in John’s performance of this book brought the book to a whole other level.

The Endless Road to Sunshine – Audiobook  by Nicky James (author) and Nick J. Russo (narrator)

Another great combination of author and narrator. I think this is Nick’s best book narration performance ever. Nick brought all the feels to this book.

Hidden Species Series  by Louisa Masters

I must admit I love shifter Stories. But I love this one because, it’s a unique take on shifters. Demons, hellhounds & Dragons-oh my!

Origin (Scales ‘n’ Spells Book #1)  by AJ Sherwood and Jocelynn Drake

It was my year to love shifters. This one is a Dragon shifters series. This one is also has a unique take on the shifter genre – dragons looking for their fated mates who are mages.

True Mate (Prosper Woods Chronicles #1)  by Patricia Logan

Vampires, unicorns, witches & werewolves. My favorite parts of this series were the letters to the editor. And Rome and Vincent were the perfect couple.

Guardians of Camelot Box Set  by Victoria Sue

I loved this modernized retelling of King Arthur of and his knights- Pairing of a knight with a fated male mate was inspired.

Road to Carnage Series  by Nicholas Bella

Review

Leave it to Nicholas Bella to bring his brand-of gritty, erotic storytelling to the motorcycle club genre. He creates a fascinating outlaw MC world.

Soulbound Series  by Hailey Turner
My paranormal journey this year included An Echo in the Sorrow and A Veiled and Hallowed Eve, the concluding two books in this wonderfully written series from Hailey Turner. Jono and Patrick were driven to the edge of life before getting their HEA.

Gone But Not Forgotten (TIN #1)  by Charlie Cochet

The long-awaited continuation of the characters from Charlie’s Thirds Series. The guys are no longer working for Thirds and have moved up to TIN – Therian Intelligence Network. New adventures await Dex and Sloane, as the stakes become even higher.

Muscle and Bone – Audiobook   by Mary Calmes (author) and Greg Boudreaux (narrator)

This year’s selection of audio books was fantastic, and it was hard to limit myself. Greg brought his A game to this stellar performance. Another paranormal story, alpha/omega characters with a twist. One’s a cop, one’s a rich English Lord.
