Interview with Victoria Sue and Love Bytes

Question: I understand you have come to give us some news about your enhanced series?

Victoria: Yes, and thanks for having me! Just to give you a little background. My enhanced series (currently six books) has languished a little because of the complications getting my rights back from a publisher and fitting it into the already busy schedule I have of my self-published work. The last book – Everybody Burns – was the story of one of the readers favorites, Eli, and he fought hard for his Happily Ever After.

Question: So do you have a next book planned? Are you intending to finish the series soon?

Victoria: My next book in the series is about Sawyer. I actually wrote half of it and then decided to completely change everything. I don’t want to give things away but Sawyer breaks one of my biggest series rules. That each enhanced partners with a regular human. It’s a plot twist in the book so I don’t want to give it away. (Sorry) But Sawyer is having huge problems, not only in his personal life, but with his ability which both seem to be spiraling out of control.

Question: Because you’re an evil author?

Victoria: Pretty much. The main thing is that now I have my plot, the writing will be easier.

Question: Maybe for those readers unfamiliar with the series you could give us a quick intro?

Victoria: The idea came to me because I read an article about people being born without little toes.

Question:

Victoria: (grins) Its basically evolution. We don’t need our appendix and some people are born without it. We don’t need to swing through trees and hang on with out bare feet so that’s what the article was explaining. That the little toe is now redundant. And it gave me the idea. What if some people were born with enhanced DNA now? That the “abilities” they had were just accelerated evolution. So my heroes simply have abilities that will become the norm in a few hundred thousand years.

Question: For example?

Victoria: Gael has impenetrable skin. Every person has a gene called KLF4 that makes the skin waterproof. But what if a person’s levels of that is off the charts? There’s a whole science called epigenetics that basically argues people can actually change their DNA and that happens to Talon in book two.

Question: And Sawyer?

Victoria: Sawyer’s ability, or one of them, is that his body’s magnetic field is controllable. A lot of people don’t know that everyone has a magnetic field. Sawyer’s, however, is off the charts and his body can therefore biologically react with light – which in theory is how cloaking devises work. It’s not a stretch to say he can become invisible. Unfortunately for Sawyer his ability is getting rapidly uncontrollable.

Question: And when can we expect to read Sawyer’s story?

Victoria: It’s going to be called “Mirror of the Sun” from the quote “Shadows cannot see themselves in the mirror of the sun” by Evita Peron. It should be available to pre-order soon.
