Book Description
When life is perfect, you know it’s gonna throw you a curveball…or four.
Nic and Vincent have been riding the high of a new romantic relationship that works so well they are on the verge of officially moving in together—but then the distractions begin. Their friend Daphne needs a temporary dungeon space, and Nic’s basement seems the perfect solution. Vincent’s gay seventeen-year-old cousin, Taylor, needs a safe refuge from his uber-religious parents. When Vincent suffers an unexpected injury, Nic asks Daphne to suggest someone to help with domestic duties around the house.
These combined circumstances lead to a less-than-ideal home life for Vincent and Nic, who struggle to find alone time. But life has a way of giving people what they need, and the arrival of Matteo to help with chores around the house sets into motion an opportunity the three must decide to follow to its logical conclusion or abandon in order to maintain the emotional safety of all the participants.
Reader advisory: This book contains scenes of food play, minor incidents involving a Domme and public sex There is reference to the abandonment of an older teen by religious zealot parents, puppy and kitty play, and a suggestion of suicidal ideation. This book is best read as book two in the Persuasions series.
I walked back to the first room and picked up a program from the young maître d’—probably Juno’s latest conquest. He gazed at me hesitantly and smiled.
I held out my hand. “Hi. I’m Nic. How do you know the artist?”
The man blushed. “Hi. Well, we met recently and…they want to paint me so…I said I’d help out tonight. My name’s Charles.”
I raised my eyebrows. It seemed Juno’s method of acquiring willing subjects-slash-sexual partners hadn’t changed.
I smiled and looked the young man over. “I can see the appeal. You’re lovely.”
He laughed. “Thank you very much. You came with a very attractive man. He looks like Tom Holland in that music video.”
“Yes, that was the intention. He’s my boyfriend, Vincent.”
“May I ask what pronouns I should use to address you, Nic?”
“I prefer he or him. But they or them is fine as well. Thank you for asking.”
“You’re welcome. Juno told me it was very important to learn everyone’s preferred pronouns this evening.” He frowned. “I think there might be a test later.”
“If I know Juno, there will be. I won’t tell you what the reward for a pass might be, but I can imagine.”
Charles visibly shuddered. I winked and walked away in order to peruse Juno’s artwork.
Their style was dramatic and original, using the representation of body parts in an unintuitive way that made one uncomfortable at first glance. As one stayed with the work and let the swirls of acrylic and emotion sink in, they were almost calming in their use of motion and color—like a more ethereal Picasso. Really, they were brilliant.
By the time I’d enjoyed all the paintings exhibited in this room, ranging in size and subject, with the models’ names used as the titles, I moved into the second room again. Vincent stood comfortably at Juno’s side while they explained a particularly colorful work to him. When they happened to see me, Juno beckoned me over.
“Do you know what this one’s called, good sir?” Juno asked, grinning as they gestured to the large painting.
I focused in on the title printed on the card. “What the fuck, Juno?”
Vincent and Nic, Soulmates.
Juno laughed loudly and clutched Vincent closer, pointing their cigarette at the painting. “It’s the best one here, I think.”
“How the fuck did you paint Vincent and me? We never posed for you.”
Juno shrugged. “An artist’s trick. I had a photo of the two of you from the drag show we went to. It was perfect because it was after Vincent got wrapped up in the blue-and-purple boas and you were kissing him and laughing.” They inclined their head at the art piece. “This is how it looked to me.”
The painting was large and full of turquoise and eggplant hues, with some nods to our skin color thrown in, as well as a couple of spots of intense blue, which I think represented Vincent’s eyes. It was beautiful.
“I love it,” Vincent said, his gaze fixed on the painting, an enthusiastic smile on his face.
“Dammit, Juno. Now I have to buy this one,” I said.
“No, you don’t. I’m going to gift it to the two of you.”
I stared at them. “What? You can’t do that.”
They raised their eyebrows and put a hand on their hip. “It’s my painting, Nic. I can do whatever the fuck I want with it.”
I groaned. “Okay, fine. But let me pay you.”
“It costs three thousand dollars if you’re going to purchase it,” Juno said.
I paled. “Really?”
“You’re not going to buy it. I’m giving it to you. Consider it a housewarming present,” they said, laying a hand on my arm and taking a drag from the now-lit cigarette.
“But I’ve been living in that house for years,” I said, uncomfortable with such a generous gift, even if it had been inspired by the two of us.
“Not with Vincent,” Juno said tersely, as if they didn’t want to hear another protest.
“That’s true.”
“Well then, I don’t understand the issue,” Juno said, then gave Vincent a quick kiss on the cheek and moved off, swirling into the crowd as seamlessly as their voluminous dress would allow.
Vincent and I exchanged a hopeless glance. There was no point arguing with Juno. We would never win. And it was a gorgeous painting.
“Come here. I simply must touch your bottom in those shorts. They’re so shiny!” Vincent giggled as I pulled him close and groped his ass. “God, that’s so soft and smooth. I want to spank you in these.”
“Oh, Sir! Not here,” he said with a flirtatious lilt, like he might consider being thrown over my lap in front of the rest of the patrons.
I raised my eyebrows and let a slow smile form on my face.
“I mean, really, Nic. I don’t want to be spanked here.”
My smile vanished. “Damn. For a second I thought…”
He looked down. “Yeah, for a second I did too. But no. Please. I’m not ready for that yet.”
My smile slowly returned. “You said yet.”
“Yes, I did.”
“Hmm. That’s very interesting.”
“Let’s get something to eat. A person came with a tray, but there are hors d’oeuvres laid out over there.”
I lifted my elbow for him. “Shall we?”
He smiled and took it. “Yes.”

Back at home that evening, I helped Vincent off with his trench and took his hand, bringing him up to the bedroom, where I stripped off all my clothes except for the white button-down, which I left open. I stood him at the end of the bed while I grabbed my phone and sat against the pillows.
“Pose for me.”
Vincent blinked. “What?”
“I want to take some photos of you in that outfit. You look fucking delectable, and I want to remember it.”
He smiled. “What should I do?”
“Hmm. Put your hands on your hips and look haughty. The opposite of Real Vincent.”
He did as I’d asked and put forth a strong attempt at being proud and self-centered.
“Nice!” I said, taking shots of him. “Now turn around so I can get a booty shot, but peek over your shoulder at me and smile.”
He obeyed, but instead of smiling at me, he stuck out his tongue.
I clicked mine. “Vincent, you are a naughty boy. Show me how bad you can be.”
He laughed and turned around, climbing onto the bed and stalking slowly toward me on all fours while I kept taking photos. I pushed myself up onto an elbow as my breathing quickened. When he got too close, I moved my phone out of the way and he was right there, up in my face with his stunning blue eyes and bowed lips.
“Hi,” he said in a breathy voice. He smelled of rum and Coke. He might be as tipsy as me at this point. We had taken advantage of the open bar.
I smiled and raised my brows. “What are you after, doll?”
He stretched like a cat and moved his gaze along my body as he did, then glanced up. “You. I want you.” The stare he leveled at me ignited flames in my belly. “What do you want? Sir?”
I sighed, circling my fingers around his wrists where they were wrapped in the ruffled bands. “I want you to fuck the shit out of me, Vincent. But I want you to keep most of this outfit on while you do it.”
He grinned and took his bottom lip between his teeth. “Yeah? I can do that.”
I matched his grin. “I know you can. You’re very agile. And your cock is probably very hard right now.”
He blushed and nodded, his breath hitching. “Yeah.”
“Then do it,” I said, spreading my thighs and tilting my chin up so now I was the haughty one—which was true in any case.
Vincent extricated his wrists from my lax grip and slid an arm beneath my hips, pulling me forward and flat underneath him. I gasped at the sudden change of position but smiled up at him.
“You are my androgynous angel,” I whispered, drowning in the blue eyes outlined with kohl that gazed at me from beneath his gelled hair. “Now show me what you’ve got for me in those short-shorts.”
He laughed and shook his head at my ridiculousness, then went up on his knees so he could push down the shorts and the fishnets only far enough to release his red and leaking erection.
He was such a fascinating enigma, my Vincent. So demure and delicate in public, but with a priapic energy that was always ready and willing at a moment’s notice to burst forth. His penis was a beautiful, magical thing to me, and I revered it in a way that spoke to my gender-queer soul. It was like a pet that needed to be fed regularly or it would shrivel and die from hunger. Neither Vincent nor I had a silly name for it, but there was a certain affection and admiration beyond the purely sexual for such an endearing and functional part of his anatomy.
Once released, he entered me with a smoothness and unapologetic practicality that thrilled me, as if he had a job to do and he wanted to get to it.
His shiny shorts were bunched at the top of his thighs, so I grabbed onto them for purchase as he sank in all the way and began a shallow, rough thrusting that had me crying out within moments.
