Twelve blind dates over Christmas? Chance has low expectations until he meets a gorgeous rule-breaker with a talent for dirty talk.
Christmas is fast approaching, and, like most years, Chance McKenzie is single and lonely. It makes a Christmas-themed dating service sound like a good idea. Twelve blind dates and the possibility of meeting the ‘man of his dreams’? It’s worth a shot.
The brash and flirtatious Angel Tompkins is not what Chance expects. Angel is out for a good time and doesn’t like small talk. Not only does he convince Chance to go out after their date, but he also gets Chance back to his apartment.
Angel is everything Chance never knew he wanted. When Angel asks to see more of him—in and out of the bedroom—he says yes. A two-week fling with Angel sounds like a dream come true.
But when Angel proves to be romantic and kind, Chance starts to desire more than just casual sex and the occasional date. They’re both on a dating service with at least twelve other men. What are the odds that Angel would ever want more than some fun?
REVIEW:
When I picked up this book request for review I didn’t release it was a book from last year, which I apparently missed. So this was my chance to get caught up with the interesting premise. I was fascinated by the blurb and curious how the author would work it out.
We meet Chance who is, as the blurb says, single and lonely and is looking for someone for the holidays so he doesn’t have to spend them by himself. When he is being signed up for Twelve Dates, he is hesitant yet curious and when the first date isn’t what he expects he is more then surprised when he meets Angel on another date. Angel is everything Chance could ever want even without knowing what exactly that was. They click and spend time together even after the date, while fulfilling their obligation of finishing the 12 dates.
Things get hot and heavy quickly and they continue to be through most of the book.
What I liked most, though, were the dates, the getting to know both men and the talks. The author did a great job in making both men visible for me as a reader.
Yes, I have to admit I didn’t feel that much click with the book. Yes, I loved both men, I liked the writing, the storyline, etc, so I cannot honestly say what made me feel I was missing something. So I tend to think it is just me. I would have liked to have seen some more casual things, and the drama you know is coming is not really exciting, unexpected or interesting.
The ending and the sweetness was wonderful and I would have loved a short epilogue a little bit in the future as it ended quit abrubtly.
Overall, if you are searching for a steamy holiday read, you can feel comfortable picking this up and enjoying the read
RATING: (More like 3.75 hearts but rounded up for the holidays )
