Teddy is ready to pop the question, but can he find the perfect movie-moment proposal for Harlow? And, more importantly, will Low survive meeting the parents? Oh, the joy of Christmas. A missed connecting flight, inappropriate winter attire, and a kitchen fire…it wouldn’t be Christmas without some complications, right?
I know Harlow is desperately trying to impress my family, but I’m a lot more concerned about coming up with a proposal worthy of his Hollywood dreams. That is, if he doesn’t burn the house down first. There’s nothing like the holidays with family. Fa la la la la….
Operation Meet the Parents is a 25K-word novella companion to the full-length novel, Operation Meet Cute. Don’t miss this warm and fuzzy, all-the-Christmas-feels, steamy story.
REVIEW:
Note: This is the second book in the series and is full of spoilers from book 1 🙂 Best listened to after listening to Operation Meet Cute.
Teddy and Harlow are now together. They bought a house, they know they are going to be together forever. Harlow has finally figured out that his person was there in front of him all along in his best friend. Now, however, they are off to spend the holidays in Minnesota for Harlow to meet Teddy’s family. But things don’t exactly go well. It starts off with them missing their flight from LA. But Teddy is actually able to salvage that pretty well. Then there is some missing luggage, Harlow’s usual kitchen disasters and it kind of goes on from there. Teddy’s sister seems to really like Harlow, but his mother is rather cool. Harlow’s not used to people not liking him and he sets out to try to win her over. But his attempts generally find him digging himself into a bigger hole.
Teddy and Harlow do have fun – even if they are sharing Teddy’s childhood bedroom with a single bed. They do get up to some hanky panky and there is a rather hilarious mishap with the dog that ends rather embarrassingly 😀 As the week goes on, Harlow tries to convey just how much he loves Teddy while Teddy is trying to find the perfect time propose. Nothing goes to plan, but it all works out anyway 🙂
This was an adorable holiday novella that gives us a glimpse into the lives of Teddy and Harlow as they are moving toward their HEA. There are lots of obstacles, but heck, these boys have already been through the worst of it. It’s so cute how Harlow thinks he can win over Teddy’s mom. I could totally relate as I think many of us can in meeting our SO’s parents and discovering that nobody will be good enough for their little Suzie or Johnny 😛 Luckily Harlow and Teddy are solid and the parents do come around in the end. I loved seeing Harlow’s mother again and I enjoyed Harlow’s interaction especially with Teddy’s younger sister. There are some really great laugh out loud moments and I was glad I was listening to this at home 😉 Nick Russo does a fantastic job of narrating this story. His Teddy and Harlow voices are spot on from the previous book. I loved how he infused Harlow with his usual sunny optimism tempered with his new experience of dealing with someone who doesn’t like him all that much off the bat. The emotion and the humor and the love between these two are palpable in this performance. Teddy’s protective nature and firm stand on defending his love for Harlow are just so sweet 🙂 I enjoyed every minute of it. Highly recommended for a happy holiday listen that will leave you with a smile on your face 😀
