Author Monthly Post – Anne Barwell – Looking Back at 2021

Happy Holidays, whatever you celebrate.

As this is my last post for the year, I figured it was a good time to look back over 2021. I’ll do the reverse in my January post re my plans for 2022.

This year has been full of curveballs, and not just covid related though that hasn’t helped. My plan to re-release three books turned into two, although I should have Prelude to Love ready to go at some point in January.

Finally being in a position to get way overdue house maintenance done was great, but meant a lot of time organising it, and having tradesmen around so that didn’t help.

I had RSI in both wrists in January, and am still using a brace at work most days. There is such a thing as too much shelving. Who knew? Then just before our last lockdown I broke a tooth. When I finally got to the dentist he took one look and said you should have come with that in level 3… It’s taken several months to come right, with a massive gum infection, and then finally having to have it out after an attempt to save it. I still have the occasional twinge as the scar tissue heals. Mask wearing all day is impacting the healing process, and also I got very run down with the stubborn infection that four lots of antibiotics finally shifted.

Being in survival mode for a couple of months totally derailed my writing timetable, and I’m still playing catch up with everything else.

And then this week my PC, which has always had a hate/hate relationship with the internet, suddenly did a massive hissy fit after a power cut, so I had to go shopping this morning for a new one…

But in happier news, my littlest granddaughter is one on Christmas Eve, and is already walking around furniture and saying ‘Dadda’ and ‘Nana’. Not Mumma, yet much to my daughter’s disappointment. I’m sure she’ll hear enough of “Mummmm” in the next few years.

I’ll leave you with a Christmas book…

My WWI MM romance On Wings of Song is available through Amazon and in paperback and KU!

Blurb:
A chance meeting they never forgot.

Six years after meeting British soldier Aiden Foster during the Christmas Truce of 1914, Jochen Weber still finds himself thinking about Aiden, their shared conversation about literature, and Aiden’s beautiful singing voice. A visit to London gives Jochen the opportunity to search for Aiden, but he’s shocked at what he finds.

The uniform button Jochen gave him is the only thing Aiden has left of the past he’s lost. The war and its aftermath ripped everything away from him, including his family and his music. When Jochen reappears in his life, Aiden enjoys their growing friendship but knows he has nothing to offer. Not anymore.

Author’s note: This story was originally released by another publisher. This edition has some added content, and uses UK spelling to reflect its setting.
