The first time Dante saw Liam, he was in the club.
All leather.
And mesh.
And willing.
The second time Dante saw Liam, he was a client.
All cold.
And quiet.
And in danger.
Dante is nothing if not professional when it comes to his job as a bodyguard, but being hired on to protect the young cellist he’d once met in a dingy bathroom wasn’t high on his list of things to do for the holidays. Especially knowing that Dante can no longer touch him.
And it doesn’t help that Liam starts pushing every single one of his buttons after they find themselves snowbound with Liam’s stalker hot on their tail. Dante needs to find a way to draw a line between them, because he’s not willing to give up his career to have Liam in his bed. But he also knows he can’t ignore the one thing he’s figured out:
Liam needs a firm hand, and Dante knows how to give that to him.
At some point, Dante will have to make a choice between duty and pleasure, but he’s starting to wonder if that risk might not be worth everything.
Shades of Winter is a low angst, stand-alone, MM winter holiday romance featuring an age-gap, a grumpy bodyguard, a cellist who just wants to feel delicate, and a piping hot-toddy of a happily ever after.
REVIEW:
A new E. M. Lindsey series!
Liam seems, by all appearances, to have it all. Rich influential parents, successful music career, anything money can by…except love and attention of his parents growing up. And now, at the tender age of 21 and still a virgin, a stalker that just keeps showing up to where he should be safe. When Liam decides that a night out clubbing on his 21st birthday just became a total treat if the leather daddy eyeing him means business then his night is definitely looking up. But getting a few stolen minutes away from his security detail dear old dad provided it a major risk he’s willing to take. Dante finds Liam the perfect package all done up in satin and lace. He’s part of his fantasy he never thought he could find. But their time was cut short way too quickly and now he can only dream of the lithe young man in lace panties. When he is requested to personally take care of a new client he is more than shocked to discover it’s his dream boy. But his business is personal security and protection and young Liam has attracted a rather forward stalker that seems to be escalating. When Liam and Dante get trapped by a huge snowstorm on Christmas Eve will they let down their defenses and get the Christmas presents they truly desire.
Dante kinda stole my heart. The pain and loss he had to deal with from his past was real and you could feel it. Liam was the poor little rich boy that was a trophy child his parents could parade around. When he became a musical protégée it sealed his fate. His father used him to promote himself but never truly seemed to love him or even care for him. He was just a means to promote himself. When Liam grew up and wasn’t the shiny perfect boy to make his dad look even better it just seemed to piss off the senator. And his absentee mother was no better. Children are to be adored and treasured not just to be put on display like any other expensive bobble you use to make yourself look better, richer and more powerful. I was thankful that Dante came into his life and he had had Carlos to be a real father-figure for him too even though both men came into Liam’s life a bit later than he needed.
I wasn’t into the degrading and using Liam as a toy and Dick warmer. I know that was Liam’s kink however this sweet boy had been neglected and used his entire life and he deserved to be treasured. I know that Dante did but it just wasn’t my usual daddy kink I guess. And the whole “crazy, dangerous stalker” thing with Theo was a bit anti-climatic. I did love how strong it showed Liam though.
I am looking forward to more in this series. I am hoping for Carlos’ story and Linus/Peanut too. And I hope we see where Dante and Liam are in their lives too.
