One Christmas, two lonely hearts, and five portions of sparkle!
Gray isn’t enjoying December. The weather’s grim, his job’s a struggle, and his useless boyfriend ran out on him months ago. He’s a walking Mr Christmas Grump. And then he delivers a parcel to Alec, a bright, sparkly, over-earnest vlogger who’s going through his own hard times. Over the course of five days, accompanied by an irritating but relentlessly cheerful pop song, Gray and Alec share secrets, kisses, regrets, triumphs, some truly awful fashion—and maybe a love that will last far beyond the new year.
This short novella was previously published in the 2020 anthology “Gifts for the Season”. It is a standalone Christmas romance.
REVIEW:
This is a super sweet instalovey holiday treat! Gray is a grumpy Gus and Alec is doing his best to be a positive, sunshiny vlogger. Turns out that’s not the whole truth – for either of them. Gray gets introduced to Alec when delivering a package and he’s immediately sucked into Alec’s orbit 🙂 He’s adorable and energetic and generally a bundle of energy which is quite different to Gray’s rather “grey” outlook on things. Post his breakup, he’s in no mood for the holidays. But as he delivers packages to Alec, he get pulled into his nightly vlog sessions. He’s pressed into service as a “model” for the wares that Alec’s sponsor has sent and he’s delivered. The quality may not be there, but they make a fun pair as Gray acts as Alec’s “personal Santa” much to the delight of Alec’s followers. After the vlog show, Alec and Gray get personal time 😉 Gray is entranced by the beautiful and talented vlogger and Alex is definitely attracted to the gruffer Gray. They definitely discover that they fit in a very unexpected way. Their strengths and weaknesses are complementary and seem to make things better for both of them. Sure it’s a little bit instalovey and going from attraction to more quickly, but sometimes miracles do happen – especially at Christmas! Both characters are very likeable and I was rooting for them to just get on with it and move forward from a little bit of fun to something more serious. Highly enjoyable quick and happy read that I definitely recommend if you’re looking for a little Christmas cheer!
