Merry Elf-ing Christmas by Beth Bolden
Aidan might be a bad elf, but he’s never been naughty.
Aidan has always landed on Santa’s nice list, thank you very much. But that doesn’t mean he’s cut out to be a North Pole elf; instead of worrying about the dwindling magic of Christmas, he’d much rather be back in Tir na Nog, calculating where the next end of the rainbow is going to land.
Instead he’s freezing his butt off in Santa’s sleigh.
His situation seems grim despite all the decking the halls, until on Christmas Eve, during a milk and cookies run, he meets Dexter, an engineering student.
They couldn’t be more different, and Dexter couldn’t be more forbidden, but Aidan is drawn to the handsome human anyway. Over the next year, their emails start out as a entertaining way to pass the time in all his interminable elf meetings, but soon, hearing from Dex becomes the very best part of his day.
And when they meet up on the next Christmas Eve? Aidan and Dex discover that their infatuation is so much more than just attraction. If they believe in each other and in the love they share, together their magic might be powerful enough to save Christmas.

“You’d better get your boss Santa’s favorites,” the guy said with a smirk.
“Yeah,” Aidan muttered, “anything less might be a breach of festivity.”
Aidan knew all about breaches of festivity. It was Edmund’s favorite topic.
The guy’s eyes crinkled adorably. “Breach of festivity?” he wondered.
Aidan shot him a knowing look before turning down one of the aisles. Realized as his eyes alternatively searched through the brightly colored bags and boxes that he wasn’t sure which cookies were Santa’s favorite.
“Oreos are always a solid choice.”
Aidan looked up in surprise and there was the guy, at the head of the aisle. He was tall, even taller than Aidan had realized he was, with long rangy legs in worn jeans, and a dark navy t-shirt that read, “Bah Humbug” on it.
A sentiment that resonated way more with Aidan than he could admit.
“Oreos?” Aidan had never had Oreos before. They weren’t something the Tír na nÓg kitchens typically stocked, and whenever he and Ronan had snuck out of the compound, he hadn’t been in the mood for sandwich cookies.
The guy shot him a strange look.
Probably because nobody else had ever questioned Oreos being a solid choice.
Aidan grabbed the biggest package on the shelf, not because he thought Sam really liked Oreos but because he wanted to see the guy smile again.
He was rewarded with a big grin, and it blew the rest of the thoughts right out of his head. There was something else that was supposed to go with the cookies, Edmund had been lecturing him about it for weeks, in case Santa felt like he needed a snack.
But under the powerful onslaught of the guy’s presence, Aidan found the knowledge had just disappeared right out of his head.
Maybe if I see it, I’ll remember it.
He headed towards the beverage coolers at the back of the store, and this time he wasn’t surprised that the guy trailed after him.
“Looking for something in particular?” he asked as Aidan’s eyes scanned the various beverages available.
There was a lot.
Aidan looked over at the guy. “Does everyone who comes in get such personal service?”
He had the audacity to flush, making him somehow, impossibly, even more handsome. And also more approachable. “Uh, it’s been slow. I’m a bit bored,” he admitted.
“Must be,” Aidan said.
He’d been so preoccupied with the beverage choice, turning this way and that, craning his head to try to see the upper shelves, that he hadn’t even noticed his hood slipping, and he didn’t realize it had actually fallen down until he heard the guy’s sharp intake of breath behind him.
“You’re . . .”
Aidan turned, apprehension building in his stomach at the thought of Edmund’s inevitable lecture—and at the thought of the guy’s disgust.
Humans, as he’d learned over the years, didn’t tend to like creatures who weren’t like them.
And Aidan, though he mostly resembled a human, still wasn’t human.
The ears, now exposed and flushed, were a dead freaking giveaway.
“You’re . . .” the guy repeated, stuttering, but unlike what Aidan had feared, he didn’t look upset. His expression was more fascinated than anything else. “You’re an elf.”
There was no point in denying it.
