A trip that he thought would bring him only pain is about to present him with the greatest gift of all.
For three years now, Cabriolet Vermat has put off, wiggled out of, and outright lied to get out of making this dreaded trip east. The owner of Cabriolet Chauffeur Services in Los Angeles has avoided the yearly invitation to the small town of White Bridge, New York, to speak at their alumni winter gathering but this year they’ve outfoxed him. They’re throwing a dinner to honor his late partner’s dedication to his alma mater and have asked Cab to speak. This time he has to go no matter how much pain it will stir up. Arriving in the picturesque small town beside one of the Finger Lakes, Cab is treated to a special performance of holiday songs and there he sees Julian Gabriel Baez for the first time.
The young singer captivates him immediately, and he finds himself seeking out the much younger man after the performance. The pull he feels toward Jules is unlike anything he’s felt since he met his partner years ago. Confusion and desire war within him, but the outgoing young tenor wins him over with his engaging smile and kind heart. A two-day trip soon turns into an extended holiday vacation. Cab worries that the magic of Christmas will quickly fizzle out and he’ll be alone once more. Or will this festive season bestow a blessing of the heart upon a man who thought he would never love again?
The Christmas Tenor is a standalone small-town gay Christmas romance with a beautiful May-December relationship, a lonely widower, a rising opera star, loving families, and plenty of holiday joy.
REVIEW:
Cabriolet Vermat is a Black, French-Canadian, six foot four, into his fifties, owner of Cabriolet Chauffeur Services living in LA. Losing his husband Carter, three years ago, makes him realize he’ll end up alone, he can’t really move on.
His twin Pierre lives and travels with him, they are opposites, Pierre is full of humor and witty, Cab is a grumpy sour bear.
When Cab hears and sees the stunningly beautiful young opera singer Julian, his heart and body react strongly. How is this possible, his heart and body were out of business.
Julian Baez is a beautiful, passionate, young Latino, vibrant, and flirty. He’s ambitious, has already an impressive career, and knows what he wants, Cabriolet!
Pierre and Cab are welcomed in the Baez family residence, warm and joyful, the opposite of what the twin is used to.
Julian wants a short fling, Cab is reluctant, he gives in, at last. Without being aware Can is changing, he’s living again, in all its glory! If he even knew Julian’s real intentions.
“If I had been asked to create a lover, I would have crafted Julian Baez.”
Plans are changing, schedules are reorganized. They have more time together and it’s mind-blowing! Reluctancy turns into delicious greediness.
Imagine a most gorgeous man with an overwhelming impressive voice, a voice that will give you goosebumps and blurred eyes, oh I can imagine it easily, because of the way the author wrote it. Absolutely stunning!
These men were magnificent, their blooming love, their sexual activities, their kindness, and considerations, their full dedication were all so deeply moving!
This author always creates such rich characters, I’m in awe!
Besides Cab and Julian who are both kinds, gorgeous and crazy silly in love, there are family members who gave some great spiciness to the story. Pierre, my heart!
Overall a nicely developed, very enjoyable, warm-hearted, positive, super romantic, interracial, May-December, love story, with an amazing plot, true and honest feelings, humorous comments, the sweetest and adorable characters, and wonderful environments.
Yes, a winner!
