This month I’m part of a Winter Love promotion, with a focus on winter seasonal events like Christmas. Although I’ve written a winter set Christmas story – On Wings of Song – it still takes me a bit to get my head around the two happening at the same place.
Being a New Zealand author, we celebrate Christmas in the summer. Our schools also close for their long end of year break, a lot of businesses take leave at the same time, or open with reduced hours, so it’s very quiet between Christmas and New Year. The community orchestra I play in, along with many community groups, takes a break from early December until February. It’s a good opportunity to take some down time and catch up with a few things. I always get a lot more writing done.
Our Christmases also tend to be hot, although traditionally the weather packs up on that day. Our family celebrates with a barbeque/potluck rather than a heavy winter meal, which makes for a relaxed day with the opportunity to catch up.
Check out the Winter Love promotion which runs from 12 – 22 November.
40 authors have come together to give you 41 fabulous reads! I love Christmas stories so will be grabbing the ones I don’t already have.

[…] can read the post here, and don’t forget there’s only a couple of days left to snag the Winter Love promotion […]
I think that would be a challenge. When I was young, growing up in Southern California, it was always mild over the holiday break from school. It was winter, but we often had beach weather on Christmas day–body surfing, sun bathing, and the whole show. But I’ve lived about 1200 miles north of there for a long time now, and have had a number of white Christmases. Cosy, nice, as long as the power stays on. 😄
