Samuel is a winter dragon, isolated from humans in both distance and appearance. With his icy blue, faceted dragon eyes, he can’t go into the human world without inspiring fear or awe. So he and his two brothers and two cousins have created a dragon sanctuary. When he finds Justin in the ice and snow, he knows he has to take him and his friend home and help them, but it’s Justin who catches his attention, and Samuel knows he’s found something special.
As Justin and Samuel begin their mating dance, Justin finds himself changing in ways he never expected. Samuel and his family are so magical, and Justin wants to be a part of it. He has no idea what he’s in for, or of how much he’ll become a part of the dragons he’s coming to love. Will Justin be willing to leave his very modern life behind to stay in Samuel’s world and be the mate Samuel longs for?
A dragon shifter mpreg tale!
REVIEW:
Justin and his BFF Declan are on a lovely January vacation to snowboard in Utah. But when they go for a snowmobile ride, they end up chased by the biggest wolves they’ve ever seen. Luckily they are rescued. But not just by anyone – but a family of DRAGONS! At first both men are having issues with being secluded in the dragon’s lair. Declan is near death, but Owen, one of the dragons is a healer and so he watches over him intently. Samuel, the dragon who found them, feels a pull to Justin. He’s sure he’s not fully human – because he sees glimpses of something and also they were able to cross the wards into the dragons’ territory.
Once Justin is healing, there is the little issue of breaking it to him that he’s in the company of dragons. At first Justin dreams about dragons and flying and he’s sure they are just dreams. But nope. It’s all real as he slowly discovers from Samuel. Samuel’s hair and eyes are unusual for a reason – that being that he is a Frost dragon. As they spend more time together, Justin begins to exhibit the characteristics of being a dragon also. And he’s not exactly unhappy about it 🙂 He’s a little nervous and scared at first, but he is certain that he is meant to be with Sam 😉
Then another surprise! Turns out dragons can have babies. And surely this is insane right? I mean men can’t have babies! But Justin is definitely pregnant 🙂 And the dragons are all soooo excited. And Justin is too once he’s over the shock. Then he’s excited and he’s looking forward to being fully a dragon. And despite all the changes and his rather abrupt introduction to magic and fae and werewolves and dragons, Justin is really really happy. And that makes Samuel happy as well. And everyone is over the moon about a new dragon baby. The only thing that could make it better is for Justin’s twin to show up 😀
Well this is the dragon shifter book I didn’t know I needed 🙂 What a fun story. I loved how Justin is VERY much a product of his times and Samuel is like something out of the 19th century 😉 But they just fit together. So adorable together. Yeah, it’s instalove and fated mates and all that. Lots of sex and lots of surprises for the formerly human Justin. But he really does love Sam and wants to do the right thing. Ch-ch-ch-changes! That’s the name of the game in this new world for Justin (and his BFF Declan – who gets the next book). The world building here isn’t overwhelming. We get an intro to some werewolves and fae, but nothing too earthshattering. I’m looking forward to learning more. Apparently this is part of a larger dragon universe from this author, but I didn’t feel lost here. It’s all very sweet and funny and chill. There is a little angst with the wolves and Justin and Declan’s injuries, but short lived at that.
If you’re looking for a light and fun read with some magical dragons and babies and sweet romance, then this might be the book for you. I’m looking forward to the next book. These are a lot of fun, if nothing all that new. I just enjoyed the ride and want more 🙂
