Ben and Rob are in love. They met in Barcelona a year ago and fell for each other on a Mediterranean cruise. Since then, they’ve spent as much time as possible together, and that’s no easy task since they live on opposites sides of the country.
After celebrating Thanksgiving together and deciding to spend Christmas at Ben’s family home in England, Ben and Rob start rethinking their long-distance love story. But what’s a family holiday without drama?
When Ben’s brother brings an important issue to light, the result may be the next step Ben and Rob are waiting for. And what better way to celebrate the Christmas season than with family, good friends, special gifts, and a decision that could change Ben and Rob’s lives.
REVIEW:
I loved this new Story from RJ Peterson. This is the second book in his Adventures in love Series. You must read book one, as the main characters are the same couple. Ben and Rob are just such a sweet couple. They’ve been together for a year now and have decided to spend Christmas in England. They have reached out to friends and family a to join them.
What I loved about this book – This is the second book written by Mr. Peterson – as much as I loved the first book, this one has shown a huge leap in his writing skills. The flow of this story is smoother, and his dialogue is 100% better than the first book. He’s comfortable with these character’s and it comes through with a new, added depth to not only the main characters, but the side characters as well.
His world building is well done – cruising and travel in general are areas of expertise for Mr. Peterson- His love for both things comes through when he describes places like London, England and Barcelona, Spain. You feel right at home in these places, and you feel the characters love and excitement while experiencing these destinations. One of my favorite scenes occurs in Harrods department store. Seriously made me want to go to London, just to experience Christmas at Harrods.
As they entered the store, Rob’s jaw hung open and his eyes bulged.” I have no words.” Rob turned to Ben and saw him smiling. “What? I’ve never seen anything like this before. It’s amazing!” the Christmas decorations were stunning. Evergreen garlands festooned every surface with glistening ornaments, tiny white lights, and deep burgundy ribbons. It was truly magical.
This passage encompasses all the color and feelings surrounding London, England and the holiday season. I felt in this book, Mr. Peterson utilized the use of colors to really convey atmosphere and feelings in greater detail.
The sexy times in the story also show great improvement. It shows a progression in not only the relationship of Ben and Rob, but also an instinct for well-placed sex scenes. The scenes in this book add depth and move the story along. Adding to the story and not just to have a sex scene for the sake of just having a sex scene.
With some well-placed foreshadowing, I’m extremely excited for Mr. Peterson’s next book. I highly recommend this sweet Christmas story. If you want a beautifully written, yet not sappy story, then this is the book for you. Join Ben and Rob on their holiday adventure – that proves family is not always blood related.
